Many people think that owning your own business is all good and rosy but little do they know the many stress issues that we have to face not only with the business, the employees, the products as well as ourselves. The liability that one has to think about and worry about everyday is definitely no easy thing. As an owner by association, my job besides helping the spouse run the business is to take care of all issues related to keeping the business safe and the employees happy. So we look into all sorts of insurance not only for the store but for the employees – and for years that was what we had been doing – but now it is time to also look into some errors and omissions insurance for management – meaning for us because 12 years in business is definitely no easy feat and we don’t want to lose our business over something that we can prevent. So yes, to sleep peacefully at night, we try to cover all aspect of emergencies that we may run into – in the store and like I said – owning your own business is not as easy as people think.

I had such a bad sinus attack – I didn’t know that it was a sinus attack – I had thought I was having a tooth ache because all my upper teeth hurt so bad and my face was hurting causing my head to hurt so bad I was popping advil like a druggie – it was no fun at all. So how did I figure out that it wasn’t tooth ache? well – i don’t have any cavities nor decay in my upper teeth – and it really took me a day or two before I clued in – and luckily Missy Moo had a doctor’s appointment – so I asked the doctor what I should take. She recommended the Aerius dual action which cost me $14 + tax for 10 tablets but it did work after the 2nd tablet and I started feeling all the phlegm and snort coming out. Thank God!

Mr Moo fixed my old bike with a band clamp and we went biking together and for those of you looking to go for a good and low impact exercise – biking is definitely a good way to go. I find that my muscles are toning up and I feel a lot more stamina after taking up biking. And the best thing about biking is – you can bike on your own or bike with someone – it doesn’t matter at all, the day don’t even need to be perfectly warm to go biking. Biking increases the heart rate, so there you go doing your cardio exercises. 30 mins of biking a day can help one lose weight because it burns up to 300 calories an hour, so you can easily lose a good 10 pounds just by biking alone. I’m glad that my old bike was an easy fix with a band clamp otherwise, i need to get a new one and I liked my old bike a lot.

What can you as a parent do when you kid comes home sick every other week or worst – get sick as soon as she gets well. Knowing that there are kids who are sick in her class and not being sent home and made to sit on the same table with those sick kids is quite painful for us. I know my kid might catch something again from these sick kids. Why do parents not make their kids stay home when they are sick – is really a selfish act. So what do you do as a parent?

I had taken it upon myself, to teach my kid not to play or sit beside a sick kid – and to make sure she tells her teacher she is not comfy sitting with a sick kid. And if this persist – I will go and talk to the teachers about it and if the teachers fail to stop the kids from coming back to school, I will hunt their parents down and have a chat with them – now what else would you do? pray tell?

Missy Moo had been writing a lot of notes for her grammie and sticking them on the fridge for her grammie to come read it at night when she is sleeping. She wonders if her Grammie would write back – since she is an angel now. So i suggested getting a journal to write what she wants for her grammie and also something for her to draw as well. I hope this will help her cope with her grammie`s death – I know she is very brave about it but I also know that she misses her a lot. I just pray that I would live a long time to watch her grow up and never have to leave her so young and hurt.

Yes, this year had been quite a taxing and an emotional year for us thus far. With Grammie passing away so suddenly, we are all still trying to cope with her death especially Missy Moo. I saw some great deals at packages.orlandovacation.com and trying to figure out if we should bring Missy Moo for a Disney vacation since we did plan to go during March break but had to shelf it because of her grammie’s death.

All of a sudden, poor Missy Moo had to grow up and learn about death and losing someone so close to her – so I figured we should try and bring back the child in her – and give her some magic and where better to do it right? I like the idea of the 5 days Disney World Package – because it’s all about bringing back the magic for all of us. But Mr Moo may not like too many days – so I figured 5 days would be just nice. I prefer staying inside Walt Disney Hotel and they do have the Best Western to offer – and the package looks pretty awesome to me. So I’m going to run it by Mr Moo and see if I can book this for July.

If you have been walking 30 mins to an hour a day but not seeing much weight lost – then you should make some tiny changes to your routine to see some more weight lost. So this week I`m going to try walking stairs instead of just plain walking. Now I read that by walking staircases it can really help me lose more weight and tone my thigh muscles. I`m definitely going to try this out this week – wish me luck now – 10 pounds be gone!

I used to have back pain problems when I wake up in the morning – so we figured it had to be the bed – so we changed the mattress into a better mattress some 7 yrs ago and voila ! no back problems in the morning. But of late – the morning pain in the back has come back and it’s not only me that wakes up with back pains. But it cannot be the bed only because even in the evenings – I’m having some back pain. So a check with the doctor – I was sent to a chiropractor to correct my posture and if that doesn’t help he did suggest getting a x-ray or a MRI on the spine. Now I’m worried because we don’t have the laser spinal surgery like in USA. You and I know that spinal surgery is very invasive and one might be paralyzed because of it. Although my chiropractor said it might not come to that – but who knows right? I’m still worried. In the meantime, I’m doing my posture exercises like he told me to and seeing him once a week. Mannn!! these chiropractors are expensive!

So Missy Moo had been coughing non-stop at night and especially when she needs to sleep and even though she had gone thru’ bottles of cough mixture – the cough just won’t go away. Definitely, heartbreaking for a mom to see a child coughing this way and interrupting her sleep thus we are not getting much sleep either.

She won’t drink any chinese soup that I want her to try – nor honey – so what do one do? natural coughing remedies are less harmful for the body I think – so I asked around my friends from home – and see what they had to recommend. Many talked about the Chinese pears with sweet and bitter almonds – so I tried it since the chinese pear is supposed to be pretty sweet and you use rock sugar in them. So peel and quarter the chinese pears and put in some sweet and bitter almonds – and double boil with 4 cups of water for 2 hrs and drink it while it is hot during the evening before she goes to bed. I did that for the first night and her cough didn’t seems so bad – so I tried again for 2 more nights – and her cough is gone! and yes ! natural remedy did work for Missy Moo! hurray!

A friend asked me the other day if putting on a face cream with 20 SPF, followed by a foundation with 15 SPF – does it mean that she is protected from those harmful sun ray? Valid question indeed – for many people think that by putting different products with SPF means that you are safe are not just my friend alone – because I’ve heard this question asked many a times. For your info, you need to get your sunscreen with a decent SPF for sun protection, by putting on different products on your face does not add protection for your skin. So there – you know it now.

Everyone gets some form of stress at one time or another – to hear someone say that they don’t have any stress – only means that the person knows how to handle their stress or exercising for stress relief. Understanding what stresses you – is also just as important as my doctor tells me and as you all know I have this anxiety problem that I’m taking meds for – so any form of exercise is great for people like me.

I find that going out in the open and taking in fresh air is a great stress reliever – what about you? Don’t feel bad asking the spouse to look after the children and the house – so that you can go out and get some fresh air for 30 mins and rejuvenate – you will be surprised how much it can do for your health. I’ve been doing that lately and I find that it is just a great stress reliever – letting go of all my mental and physical responsibilities for 30 mins and taking care of just myself. Don’t rush yourself – just take your time and enjoy the free 30 minutes of walking and breathing in the fresh air. Try it and let me know how you feel after that.

I never knew what a bicep femoris is till I pulled a muscle there the other day. Mannn! was I worried it was so painful i had to reach for a muscle relaxant immediately. How it happened I don’t know ! I was sitting there one night and got up to pick Missy Moo’s toy and just pulled a muscle there. I couldn’t sit for long and had to stand up and walk abit every 15 minutes – I thought for sure I was going to be in trouble – or did it have anything to do with my diabetes. You know how it is with people who are diabetic – we tend to think that everything had to do with our diabetes – afterall, we’ve all read of people who needs their legs amputated to save their lives.

Yes, very paranoid is I. But I was told by my family doctor that pulling a muscle where the bicep femoris is quite common and that I really do not need to be worried too much about it. And because these muscles are on the sitting bones – therefore, when I sit too long – it hurts – so for now – I’m just getting up every 15 minutes and walking around.

Well, I don’t really mean that – but if it works for you – by all means go for it. And yes, everyone needs a little motivation and some ambition too – and I don’t blame you if you think you don’t have the time – or that you have something more important to finish first or do because I’m the same way too. But I tell myself everyday that I’m more important and if I don’t have my health – then the rest is nothing.

We all know that exercising is important not only for the mind but it also improves the blood flow, your body flexibility and mobility. Can you imagine not being able to run with your 8 yrs old or not being able to pick up a piece of paper on the floor – yes! that’s what would happen if you don’t exercise. Plus you risk getting high blood pressure and also overweight and obesity is no fun, it sure doesn’t make you look pretty at all. Exercise improves your overall well-being and you and I knows it but why isn’t everyone doing it – you asked me? Laziness? no motivation? scared? embarrassment? shy? about our bodies? yes, it could be one reason or all the reasons.

Many people think that exercising is hard, time consuming and not fun – but it can be fun and you don’t have to work out so hard till you drop dead. Try with low impact exercising first – for 20 minutes a day – 3 times a week and preferably with someone really fun – and then you increase it every month – and it can be just walking or biking or even yoga. It’s fun! trust me – just get started 3 times a week.

My doctor recommended that I should take up music to de-stress and also to take time to do something for pleasure and not for work – to de-stress. So like any good patient and someone who wants to stay healthy for a long time – I decided to look into it but it’s not easy to choose just one or to find time to learn a new instrument. Mr Moo said that I should buy some Bongos so that we can take up learning how to play the bongos together – since he can use some de-stressing exerises. I was tempted to be honest – because the bongo sounds like a small drum and it’s good to beat the drum and it does make sense that you can beat your stress away right? But wait a minute – the bongos may be too loud – especially if Mr Moo and I learn and played it at the same time no? but the bongos are cheap to buy – and surely not too hard to learn how to play it right? so yes – the Bongos it is for both of us – maybe we will really find ways to keep healthy with our bongos.

A week ago, my heel started hurting – at first it wasn’t that back but a week later the pain had persisted and now in the mornings – when I get off the bed – it hurts so much I had to limp to get around getting ready for the day. I’m also afraid that the painful heel may cause my diabetes to get worst – or the other way round and I know the best thing to do is to see the family doctor immediately.

Last year I had the same problem but after investing in a very expensive in-sole it didn’t hurt so bad – so I’m going to try and get a reasonable in sole to try again. But I also learned that painful heel could be because a ligament a the ball of my heel had stretched and inflamed - and if not taken care of calcium deposits may form on the heels and that is not good.

And yes I do have a flat feet – so I’m prone to the painful heel because of the arch that collapse and the bottom of the foot absorbs the impact from standing and walking. And muscles may tear if I am not careful. So with people like myself – flat feet I have to find an arch support – so I’m going to do it tomorrow but will still see my family doctor asap.

Posture Corrective Heel is a what I want to try.

Some people don’t like to shop – and some people don’t like a companion when they are shopping just like myself. I can’t bring Mr Moo to shopping without feeling frustrated because he acts like he doesn’t care and as if it bothers him that he has to walk up and down the shopping mall with me. So these days – I do what most people do – and that is to shop online – stress less shopping I called it. For one – you can get everything you need online if not more – even those ITIL OGC books and tools one might need for IT Governance, risk management and compliance. So if you can find that online – you can find just about everything online. So these days – I prefer shopping online – because it’s stress free for me and stress free is always good for one’s health. I don’t like shopping with Mr Moo – and shopping with Missy Moo can be as stressful too – especially with Mr Moo – so if you are like myself – do what I do – shop online.

Everyone who has diabetes often wonders what to eat all the time – even those who have had diabetes for a long time. I’m no different – I constantly wonder what I can and cannot eat – or rather what is not a good kind of food for my diet because I have diabetes. I saw my cousin eating just about everything and more even though she has diabetes and she weighs a lot more than I. So I wonder how she manages to keep her blood sugar down this way. Anyhow, these are some of the diabetes friendly food that I’ve come across during the many nights of research that I had done ever since learning that I have diabetes. They are cucumbers and pickles, low sodium, vinegar, fresh herbs, spices, cabbage, leafy greens, cranberries, wasabi, Parmesan cheese, salsa, mayo, cream cheese and sour cream and lemon and lime juice are all diabetes friendly food. So if you cook or eat with one of these or more accompanied by the above – then I figured we should all do good with our blood sugar.
