Gestational Diabetes

I was extremely lucky when I had Missy Moo – I didn’t have gestational diabetes – but Mr Moo said – it could be because I couldn’t eat at all without feeling that I needed to puke. Maybe that was the reason but I was sure happy because Missy Moo was not at risked.
A friend of mine is having a baby soon and a few months ago, she found out that she had gestational diabetes – poor girl! just when she started to feel better and could eat. The hospitals and doctors take gestational diabetes very seriously and if you cannot bring your blood sugar level down – they would strongly suggest that you take insulin and that is no fun at all – that’s for sure. My girlfriend started doing more exercises and also cutting back on carb to have to lower her blood sugar and I think she is doing well with it after the initial shock but what about those who don’t have as much determination as my friend?
So what else can one do to help with the gestational diabetes if you have one while you are carrying a baby? try to move around a lot – lots of walking is really good i heard for those with gestational diabetes – cut off all juices and sugary drinks and definitely cut down on pasta and rice – I know easier said than done and if all else fail – listen to the doctor and take some insulin and you only start off with very low dosage.
Stress free Christmas
Yes! i would like a stress free Christmas and in fact – I think I might achieve it this year – as someone is dressing up the window of our store for Christmas – I don’t even have to worry about that ! woohoo!! so when a customer came in to ask me for gift ideas for wife I told him – he will have to check with the spouse – for I am having a stress free Christmas – hahah! But seriously, I buy everything online – so no need for gift wrapping nor mailing and postage worries. I have been doing this for a few years now – and for friends from away – I think it’s the best thing to do. I loved that I just need to pick the item online – and the rest will be done by someone else. Yes, I do pay a wee bit more – but what the hell right? you have to keep the economy going. So if you want a stress free Christmas – use my secret – shop at reliable places online – and you will be all set. So while others fret and sweat it out – or run around n the cold – I sit and relax and wait for the gifts to arrive at the receiver’s address – and await my thank you emails.
Diabetic & Bruises

My bum hurts when I am sitting down – no kidding ! and then I found out that I had a bruise on my buttocks – but that’s not worried me most – it is more because I’m diabetic and I cannot remember how i got a bruise on my bum – so I’m gonna watch it for a day or two and see if the bruise subsides or not – else I have to see my doctor soon again! You all know that being a diabetic – you gotta be careful right? especially with bruises and cuts – so yes! if you happen to have one – that don’t wanna go away – see your family doctor like now.
Lose One Pound A Month Easily

Making big changes isn’t necessarily the best way to lose weight. In fact, small, permanent changes may improve your long-term weight control.

That rate of weight loss may seem slow, but 100-calorie changes are easy to make and less likely to leave you feeling deprived — which means you’ll be more likely to stick with a lower-calorie eating plan. But if you want to lose weight faster, try cutting about 500 calories each day to lose 1 pound per week, a healthy weight-loss goal.
Burn It Before You Eat It

Hahah! ya right! i hear you saying it to me now - I tell myself the opposite all the time. Eat first and then burn it tomorrow. How many of you are the same? raise your hands now and give me a high five! hahahha!! I know – I’m terrible are I ? I would always have another bowl of laksa or some more chips and promise myself that I’m going to do another 10 more minutes of aerobics in the morning – LAIR! hhahahaha!! I’ve never done it – have you? That is why – the experts say it is better to do damage control before one run up a treat tab. So everytime you wanna eat something – do your aerobics or cardio first and then you can start eating – that way you have the license to eat and it at least gives your body a running start on those laksa or chips.
Bowel Obstruction Update

2.5 yrs ago – I had an emergency operation because they said I had a bowel obstruction – which I didn’t think was the case. But 2.5 yrs later today – I’m inclined to believe that I do really have a bowel obstruction problem. Why? because every time – I have an acute pain on my left or right side of my intestines – the next day – I have this extraordinary tummy ache. What could it be? i asked myself every time it occurs – I think I should ask my family doctor the next time I see her. The pain goes away the next day – as soon as I’ve gone to the washroom – but it does happen too often – that I’m afraid that my intestines may not be working that well? Will update you all more on it – when I find out more – probably get a tummy scan or something.
Are You A Bit Hyper?
Missy Moo was asked this question by a 9 yrs old at the store the other day – and I found it really amusing. You see the kid himself has ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) – a common disorder apparently with the kids here – and the symptoms are hyperactivity which includes fidgeting or exploring inappropriately, impulsiveness and inattention.
During our time in school, we’ve never heard of ADHD but these days – everyone throw this ADHD around like it really isn’t a huge deal. Every time a child display any characteristic that is not within the teacher’s norm – they are farmed away quickly to be diagnose with ADHD. Most kids are put on meds – but they are not aware that there is a combined of meds and behavioral treatment for kids with ADHD. I don’t have a kid with ADHD but I can imagine – it isn’t easy. I hope people can understand ADHD more conclusively and hopefully they didn’t diagnose a kid wrongly – I’ve known one or two – who were just being boys.
Menopause Awareness Month

Did you know that September is Menopause Awareness Month ? I didn’t either! but my question is – does any woman out there not know about menopausal? haha!! kidding! kidding! I’m pretty sure – everyone knows about it – even the men. And i wished i had known about it earlier when my own mom was menopausing – then perhaps i could have been a comfort to her instead of thinking she is going crazy.
But you can’t really blame me too because I was a teenager and in our culture – in Asia i mean – we don’t talk about stuff like that. Plus there was no internet then! when i turned 18 and wanted to learn about the birds and bees – my mother was so mad with me – and called me a whore ! yes! that was the environment i was in back then. I’m just glad that I’m more educated and there are books to read on menopausal and other stuff – and Missy Moo will never be called names because she is curious. And for those – who have sisters, wives, mothers going thru’ it – i suggest – you read more about it. Why? to help you prepare yourself – for all the questions they may have or even to help understand them better.
Slow Laptop
I tried to borrow a laptop from a friend to use during my stay in the hospital, but it was too old to be of much use. It was still running Windows 98 and didn’t have enough ram to upgrade it to Windows XP. 98 would have been fine for most things, but the wireless adapter I have isn’t supported by 98, it only works on 2000 or higher. It was a nice thought though, but I managed to go without.
Stop Blaming
I have to stop blaming the man for the pain in my fibroids.. ! although i donch say it out loud.. i know… i blame him.. for the situation that i am in.. because of the immigration thing that we took so long to do.
But i am equally to be blamed.. because i always wanna pay the bills first for the store.. and the staff before all else. I have to stop blaming.. to stop myself.. from being resentful at times.. and feeling pitiful for myself. Not healthy..! gotta move forward.. ! despite hard.. i still gotta..!
