Snacks Diabetic Can Eat

Someone should come out with some free directories for diabetics.. so that they know what to take for a snack.   If you think that being a diabetic.. life is over.. and you can’t eat a thing.. then you are wrong . .my dear.   Darn wrong.. in fact..!! As a diabetic.. i still believe in eating everything in moderation .. but choosing a snack for yourself, you need to be smart.  First watch out for the fat in them.. and of course the sodium .. and calories.  Why calories..?? because the bigger or heavier you go, the harder it is.. to maintain your blood sugar level.  In my next post.. i’ll be sharing with you .. what kinda snacks is available and suitable out there .. for us.  Afterall, a girl needs her snacks.. on movie nite eh..?

High Blood Sugar In The Mornings

It’s been more than a month since i started on a full course of diabetic medication.  And religiously i would note down what i ate.. and what were my blood sugar level .. as much as possible.  Unfortunately, when one is traveling it does makes it hard.  But one must try right..?? it’s like putting in   pond aerators for your fishes  .. that keeps them healthy.

Anyhow, my overall blood sugar all day is not bad.. never able 10 after eating.. nor before .. but when it comes to the mornings.. just after one wakes up..  it is not ideal.  I can be anywheres from 8 - 9 .. and the ideal should be below 7 if possible.  And i’m trying just about everything i can to bring it down.. but to no avail.  So the next appt to the doctor.. i’m gonna discuss this with him seriously.

Gadgets For Hospital

The week that i had to stay in the hospital was the most miserable anyone could be put thru’.  Lucky for me.. Mr Moo was really good when it comes to electronic stuff.  With a HDMI splitter i got to watch my movies.. and listen to all my music that i want from my ipod.  I think anyone who had to stay in the hospital without these entertainment .. would be most miserable.

Doctors New Office

Since my gynae will be leaving for good to Toronto, the new gynae .. is ready and taking over his patients.  I was at his new office the other day.. and it really looked nice.. they even used thermal labels for the patient’s chart and labeling of medications. Plus his office was equipped with some pretty decent machines.. as far as i can see.  But the clinics here .. are very different from the one’s at home.  Like here .. the gynae’s office.. has got no ultra sound machine.. whereas the ones at home.. they even have 3D machines.  Quite different.. and quite un-used to this kinda equipment-less doctor.

After The Operation

I can’t wait for my gynae to take out my fibroids.. so that i can lead a more normal life.. and be able to swim.. and exercise.. and wear a swimsuit again.  I haven’t swam for so long.. i feel so terrible about it.  Before coming to Canada.. i used to swim at least once a week.   And i do love swimming alot.. because it is a form of exercise.   I want to stay healthy too.

Shopping Therapy Is Good For The Health

Yes.. plagued by 2 huge fibroids.. and being diabetic is bad enough.. but to hear that i needed blood transfusion.. now that was shocking..!  But some shopping online for handcrafted jewelry did helped cheer me up abit.. because shopping can make a woman happy. What about you ..?? do you shop to relieve some stress..??

Shopping Therapy

My girlfriends encourages me to go shopping if one is down… or discouraged.  They swear that shopping therapy is good for the health.  But I find it so tiring.. to go from store to store.. just to window shop.. i prefer to buy on my Amazon books online and in the comfort of your own home.. and in pajamas.

Console Games & Health

I sometimes wonder if getting an xbox 360 is a good idea at all for the family.  I mean we sell them at our store .. and all.. but seeing the man not sleeping early to finish a game.. or get all excited because he can’t beat a level.. makes me wonder .. if i should ever encouraged families with young kids to buy them.

Thermometer For Kids

We have been asked alot about thermometers for kids and the one that we had gotten was the state of art one that you put them in the kid’s ears and press a button and get an accurate reading within seconds.  This is the best buy we made for the kid because she is so used to it, we have no trouble taking her temperature when we need to.

The Doctor’s Office

You will be surprised what doctor’s back home would do to promote themselves and be in the good books of their patients.  The friendly neighbourhood doctor I had back home had ink pens to give away to all their patients who visited his clinic.. like a few times a month. Unlike here in the west ..doctors are a plenty in the east. Are your doctors where you are .. the same like mine here in Canada..??

Swollen Ears

As a teenage i envied my girlfriends for being so fashionable.  They wear the most fashionable clip on earrings and they weren’t even expensive to start with.  Of course aI want to be as fashionable and stylish to .. but you see I’m allergic to some metals.. and unless they are made of gold.. i can’t wear them, I get swollen ear lobes.   What a real bummer..!!

Burn Those Energy

For those who knows us .. and our kid, you would know how much energy she has.  Yes.. from the time she wakes up.. till the time she goes to bed..  she is a non-stop energizer baby.  I kid you not..!   We think alot about ways to burn that energy away.. so that she will be tired enough to sleep at night.. because she doesn’t fall asleep till midnight.  A mini trampoline had been something we were looking for, for indoor use because of the long cold weather we have here.  Lets hope it helps.

Keep Those Burglars Away

In our store, we didn’t put up motion sensor lights till we got broken into one year. Reason being was .. we did have motion recording .. in the store.. but that didn’t help the cops because it was way too dark to see the features of the burglars. So we invested on some motion sensor lights.. to be prepared for the next time. Of course no one wants to be robbed or broken into .. but we are prepared now.

Gaming For Health

We have customer/s come in all the time to buy games from us and being in a town that doesn’t have very much going on, I guess you can say that getting certain games can keep one healthy because of all the activities one have to do. Afterall, it is better than buying booze or smoking it up.

Old Wives’ Tale

My grandmother has a glass of wine every night before going to bed… she said it was good for health.. and encourages it.  So now we too follow the same tradition .. and we have a glass of wine every now and then..  just to stay in good health.  And because of that, my siblings and I learned to buy good wines whenever we do come by any.  Wine racks has become the essential and the most appreciated gift in our family for we buy a bottle every month.
