Not enough time to get everything done, and feeling tired all the time, is how many people would describe themselves.  I am no different, having little time for anything else except for taking care of my brat, doing the housework and running the business. Top it off with trying to recover from a major surgery some 5 months ago,  you can imagine all the pent up frustration one can get.  You are not alone, if you can identify with any of the above.

If you are like me and get worked up easily, or know of someone who is destructive or wants to hurt themselves and/or others, it could be stress related.  Don’t fret because prevention of stress and acknowledging that you need help is the first step to a better living. Ume Balls

A very kind reader who read my blog about my trouble with wind in my tummy recommended that i try Ume Balls.  Looks like a very effective way to get rid of wind.. the natural way.  And you all know how i feel about the al natural medication. Of course, some research work had to be done. And it is said that the Ume is rich in organic acids and mineral and helps to maintain the body.  It is even safe for woman who are pregnant.. so that must already say something right..??

Anyhow.. the Ume ball is said to be good for various kinda illnesses or health related issues.  It is said to promote vitality, retard aging and maintain slimness too.  And lots of other good stuff, I’m gonna give it a try.

What Changed After My Surgeries..?

To say that nothing in my body changed after my surgery is a lie .. but to say that i won’t do the surgery because of these change is also not true.  One thing for sure.. about changes is the wind in my tummy whenever i don’t eat on time.  It was already bad before.. but now it’s worst.  I wonder what will happen when i travel to las vegas nevada and sight-seeing tours last for hours.. without stopping for a bite.  Yes..!! the wind in my tummy can get wicked..!!!!

Bathroom In Yarmouth Regional Hospital

I was staying on the 4th floor when i was hospitalized the second time this year.  Either there is a ghost on the 4th floor or something was really wrong with the plumbing.  You would think such a huge hospital would have gotten their electrician or plumber fixed the darn thing.. but nope.. the toilet bowl had hot water .. everytime you flushed.  Thus you cannot pee or poop in the toilet bowl.. the darn thing was steaming hot.  And they can’t do nothing about it.  And for someone who was in there for stomach problems..  you can imagine.. what an agony it was for me.  It was no kidding at all!!  luckily they had these tankless water heater for the shower.. and the water was always hot .. now that was a consolation, plus the nurses on the 4th floor were they greatest.. so i really shouldn’t complain too much… for i wouldn’t want to go back to the maternity ward.. no way..!! thank you very much.

I Still Have Fear 4 Months After My Hysterectomy

On Tuesday nite.. Wednesday morning.. Missy Moo was ill .. and my stomach was not feeling too well.  Already uneasy .. in the early evening .. i decided to go to bed  early .. but i had to wake up at 12.30am.. because i felt like throwing up again.

Didn’t get to throw up.. but had to poop.. which i did.. and went back to bed .. to rest.. after.  But i had that same kind of cold sweat.. and didn’t take me long.. before i had to wake up again to poop.  Boy..!! was i darn frightened man..!! because 4 months ago.. after my hysterectomy.. this was what happened.  With Missy Moo sick and all.. how would you feel as a mother.. to think that you might have to drag her out of bed.. because you needed to go to the hospital again.

It turned out.. it wasn’t the same thing.. i didn’t need to go to the hospital.. but on that nite or wee hours in the morning.. i cannot helped but felt extreme fear.  At times like this.. i wished i was home.. in Singapore.. and also at times like this… i sure wished .. i had my own family and friends to call upon for help.

But for those who might be thinking that i was over paranoid.. yer absolultey right man..!!! but can you blame me .. after all that i had gone thru’.. ?? I know for sure.. that had i been back home.. the fibroids would have had been taken out .. a long, long time ago.

Gems of Life Episode 14 A Calming Effect

Surprising Gems of Life Episode 14 has a calming effect more than the excitment that we had been getting lately.  First of all. . Missy Moo got sick.. on Tuesday.. and on Tuesday nite.. i had a frightening nite…!!  what i hear you asking..??  Yes.. the same feeling and churning of the tummy i had exactly 4 months ago.  I thought i was gonna puke and everything.. !! oh my God..!! you wouldn’t believed .. how i felt that day..!! it was terrible..!!!  I feel ok now.. i had been taking it easy on the food ..  didn’t eat much on Wednesday either.  Missy Moo is feeling better to go to school.. and i’ll prolly start eating again today.  I know i was being paranoid.. but when you are in that situation .. truly.. you don’t know what to think.  I guess.. had i been in Singapore.. i wouldn’t be this frightened.. because public transport is ever ready.. but not here. So i would have had to drag Mr Moo and Mr Moo outta bed.. to send me to the hospital.. and that would sux..! big time..!!!  why do they need to suffer with me.. right..??

Update On Surgery Follow Up

Apparently, today’s appt was because Dr Murphy was afraid that my hernia was still there. According to Dr Murphy.. during my laposcopic surgery .. they ahd discover a small hernia .. and had removed it.. but it could come back.

So we were not late.. but they had wanted us to be 20mins earlier.. to wait for the doctor.  And even though we were “late” .. we still had to wait a few mins.  Of course, as usual.. he pressed my tummy.. and made me lift my shoulders.. and then pressed my tummy even more.. making me feel nausea.

But i was released.. no need to come back.. unless i feel that something wasn’t right.. or if i don’t feel well.  According to Dr Murphy.. to feel the pain .. i am having. is quite normal.  So for those out there.. who have had a hysterectomy..  just so you know.. donch panic.. if you feel a dull pain.  And that if you feel pain .. in areas not where your incisions were.. it is because of pulled muscles.. most likely.

Another Follow Up For My Laparoscopic Surgery

Come Monday, I have to go into the hospital once more for a follow up with Dr Murphy .. for my laparoscopic surgery .. i had on the 2nd July.  I know exactly .. what he is gonna asked.. and what he is gonna do.  He loves to jiggle my tummy..!! yes..!! you heard right..!! he thinks.. i shouldn’t have a little pouch.. even though i had a kid like 5 yrs ago.. and had a huge fibroid .. the size of a new born.  *nod*

But i do have joy going to ambulatory care in the hospital.. because the nurses there are wonderful people.  I think i should get them some Wayfarer sunglasses for christmas for one of the nurses was admiring it .. the other time.. i was there for a clean up of my open wound.

Business Center In Our Hospital Back Home

I kid you not.  A check with my girlfriends from home.. and they tell me that they brought their laptops to the hospital with them.. when they had an operation or were having their babies, plus there were business centers in the different level of the hospital with coffee makers and fax machines and all.  While i was told that there were no Wi-fi even for me to tap into during my stay in the hospital of this town.  And the reason..?? for fear of patients private information leaking out.  *slap forehead*

Operation Theatre

For those who have never been into an operation room, you wouldn’t know how cold and weird it feels to be in it.  In fact, I’ll have to say .. i hate it.  They move you using a  linear motion bed like equipment.. and even though i was kinda drowsy.. i knew exactly what they were doing.   But i guess without equipments like that.. it would be hard to move patients like myself around the hospital eh.

Sex & Hysterectomy

Every now and then.. i get ppl telling me that after your hysterectomy.. you will feel so good.. and that one would jump right back.. and have sex like you never had before… hahhahhahaha!! Ya .. right..!!!  anyone telling you something like that.. they are either .. trying to kid you ..or trying to kid themselves.

I think the part where sex like you never had before.. is prolly due to the fact that you don’t have to worry about getting pregnant again.. and that the man don’t have to use the condom.  i guess some men don’t like it..  and some women they don’t like it either.  Well.. don’t get me wrong.. i’m not turning this blog into a sex discussion place.  But I wanted to share some insight about what is going on with my hysterectomy and the after op scenario.

There is no right and wrong time to have sex .. after your hysterectomy.. i would think.  It would all depend on yourself..and how comfortable you are.  Some ppl like me experienced more pain than others.. while others who have had their ovaries taken out are still having hot flushes.. and feeling sweaty all the time.  While others may have spinal pain.. and the rest goes on.

No one can tell you .. what you feel.. you know it yourself.  But i can assure you .. there will be no .. horny bunnies around.. for a long time.. because like myself.. it’s awfully uncomfy.. the stabbing pain comes on and off.. and during this weekend.. i found a constant dull pain on the side of my stomach.. and that wasn’t even near any of my operation scars.. or my laporascopic.

So yes.. sex after hysterectomy.. will come.. i’m sure.. but take it easy.. and you should always listen to your body.. to tell you if you are ready.  It’s exactly like when you just had your baby.. and women practice some common sense eh.

4 Months After Hysterectomy

4 months after my first operation, my hysterectomy and for those who were not aware of this.. i had an emergency operation 10 days after my hysterectomy.  They said it was a partial bowel obstruction .. but till today .. i still strongly believed that it wasn’t.  But because i wanted to go home so badly to my daughter.. i let them go in and take a look at my tummy because after so many x-rays.. and CT scan .. they don’t have the exact cause for it.

Anyhow, 4 months later.. i’m here.. and feeling a lot better.  Where once upon a time, i thought i would never get to sleep ever again.. because of the pain .. i had after 2 operations.. everything seems to be getting better.. i still have a little pain.. but they are not the same as when i first came outta the hospital.. or even a month ago.  So women out there.. i want you to know that there is hope.  And keeping my ovaries was the best thing .. my gynaecologist .. Dr Muhkerjee did for me.

After so many months, i am also pleased to report that i hardly need pain killer these days…  but that does not mean .. that it doesn’t hurt when i over-stretch myself.  So take it as easy as you can.. and as long as you can.  Sitting too long or walking too long is still a no-no for me.. and every once in a while..i feel a sharp pain where my lower abdomen is.

My skin condition .. the dryness seems to have gone.. and the only think i have to complain .. is that my hair is still falling .. A LOT .. in my opinion.  The next time.. i see my doctor.. i’m gonna asked him about it.  The blood work that i did about 2 weeks ago.. i have yet to hear from my family doctor.. so i’m guessing that everything is alright.  If you have any questions.. you can absolutely feel free to ask me.. by leaving a comment.  My advice to anyone who have had a hysterectomy..??  is to take it easy.. everyone is different.. and don’t let others tell you otherwise.. ! they are not you.

Tummy Support For Hysterectomy

When you do have a hysterectomy.. this is one of the best thing .. that you could buy for yourself to be worn straight after the operation.  They called it the swelly belly band.. and it’s not expensive.. and you wear it under your clothes and washable too..!! Hyster Sisters is the place to go it.

I recommend it .. because when you are just after your operation .. or even when you are after your operation .. this band will help support your tummy and makes it a lot easier for you to move around.. and especially when you need to cough, sneeze and even laugh… this is definitely what you want to get.  Plus if you are going out for a walk or even for a visit to the hosptal, you don’t have to be like me, walking around.. and holding to your tummy, now that can look very strange to ppl who never had anyone who had a tummy operation.

I’m Hairier..!

No.. !! not that way.. or not my head.. or on top of my head.  But had anyone who had a hysterectomy recently noticed that their belly looks a lot hairier..?? or is there even such a word..?? i kid you not.. i noticed it .. a month after my hysterectomy.. but now i’m pretty sure.  Is it normal.. ??  wait .. i’ll check with Brenda.. and then the gynae.. which incidentally i should be going back to see soon .. for a follow up.

Emergency Department

The emergency department of the town i lived in has some kind of security systems at the entrance whereby you need to get buzzed in.  I actually don’t think it made a lot of sense since everyone who are going in there.. should be having an emergency right..?? and what if they needed to get in  .. like right now..?  But this is our town we are talking about..  not a lot of things make sense.

The Pain

A check with Brenda, the babysitter’s mother who had her hysterectomy done in February sorta assured me about the pain i was feeling for the last few days.  She said she is still experiencing pain.. and more because she doesn’t have her ovaries intact unlike myself.  So her body is producing enough estrogen.  So ok folks..! an update. .no need to fret.  And in fact this morning.. i started out good.. with no pain at all.. but after 6pm. .that pain came back. ! what a bummer.  Brenda had said.. that her pain was like menses pains.  Anyone got any issues..??

My Hospital Stay

During my hospital stay.. and those times.. that i had gone visiting someone in the hospital, I noticed. .that there weren’t much seats for visitors.  But i guess that’s alright.. since they feel that the patient shouldn’t have too many visitors.. but what about those .. like Mr Moo.. who had to stay with me 24hrs a day..?? so that i wouldn’t get any panic attack.. or even for myself.. when i needed to sit up.  I figured.. with all the money the hospital gets.. from us staying in it.. about $1700 a night. .more expensive than a suite in the Westin Hotel.. you would think they would give you some better seating or some home theater seating to make you comfortable eh..?  but nope..! apparently they think that some hard and horrid chairs.. are great.  Go figure..!

A Dull Pain After Hysterectomy

Well..!! i guessed i spoke too soon eh..!  i’m feeling a kind of dull pain on one side of my tummy almost 3 month and a week or so after my first sugery.  But it might be from stress too.. for i’m going thru’ a little trying time ..  with Missy Moo and home.

I started taking pain killers again. .only when it hurts.. so usually once or twice a day.  If this continues. .i’m gonna make an appointment with my family doctor . .and we’ll go from there.  And no news about my blood test.. so i guess it is good news..?

A Common Fact Of Hysterectomy

I had been asked many a times.. after my hysterectomy .. if my menses started again or not… because my ovaries are intact.  But the fact is.. i was a wee bit shocked.. that people would assumed.. that after a hysterectomy .. you can still have menses.  Well.. the truth and fact is this.. nope.. i never had my menses again.. because the whole uterus had been taken out.  I often wonder too.. about the ovaries.. and the egg producing thingie .. since my ovaries are intact.  But i’ve yet to see my new gynaecologist..  but i would definitely ask him.. if i see him next.  Dr Mukhajee who did my hysterectomy .. left for Toronto .. for a better position.. and since he is a very ambitious .. and knowledgeable surgeon/specialist in this area.. i certainly don’t blame him for wanting to leave this small town. Well.. so now you have it.. after my Hysterectomy.. NO MENSES.. BABE..!!!  No more pads.. no more tampoons.. muahahhhaa!!

Blood Test

I know..!! i know..!! yer gonna say.. “what AGAIN..?? “  yup..! but this time.. it’s like a routine check to make sure that my haemoglobin is at the right count and all.  So i went in this morning to the hospital.. and i didn’t have to wait long.  Now the art of not having to wait too long is the timing and also the days you planned to go in.  I usually go right at the end of the day for them.. which is at 11.30am… but of course .. i wouldn’t go in at 11.25am lah… i go in at about 11am .. or 11.05am.. at the latest. Or go really early in the morning at 7am.. when they start.

Having said all the above.. i’ve yet to praised the ladies at the blood collection services.. the nurses there were wonderful, wonderful people.  They really took care not to leave bruises.. and we chatted like old friends.. and you see .. this is a gift.. because if this was my first time having my blood test.. or if i was a kid, now i would have to say .. this gift would definitely be much appreciated by parents.. and any patient/s.

I’ve had many good experiences with this hospital.. and their staff.. and of course I’ve had bad ones .. as well.  If you read my journal.. you will see i had problems with the ultra sound department some 5 yrs ago, when i was pregnant with Missy Moo . .. but that’s for another day.. and another story.  And my most unforgettable bad experienced was the 2nd day of my hysterectomy .. in the hospital.. whereby the nurses wouldn’t give me a hand to get up.. even though i had drips.. and IVs sticking all over my hands.  JOY..!!  i had to call Mr Moo to the hospital at 1am.   Unbelieveable.. eh..??  nevermind.. i’ll talk more about it .. another time.  So yes.. now i wait for the results.
