Missy Moo asked for a yo yo for Christmas – because she had just seen some of her classmates doing all sorts of tricks with it during gym. Apparently, you not only can do tricks with a yo yo – you can also exercise with it – and then co-ordinate your movements. I told Missy Moo that she should be careful – in case, she swings the yoyo into her face or worst someone else’s face. In which she replied in a matter of factly way – that they will be trained by an older student on how to maneuver the sassy moves – just like any routine – or dancing she might be learning. Now isn’t it something ? I used to love playing with a yoyo – when i was a kid – walking the dog and making them swing inside a triangle but now the kids even have more tricks to do with the yoyo – so yes ! we are getting it for her – maybe she will have something to do at the store – instead of telling us she is bored all the time.

Winter is definitely here – we’ve had rain – the wind and the snow – and it’s getting colder every day and nights are longer now. I tell Missy Moo to keep warm -when she is at school or outdoors and when she is indoors – I try to heat up the room that we are in warm. The only problem I have keeping her warm is in the store. You see – to heat the store – it will cost us an arm and a leg – heat and oil is very expensive here and we don’t get a rebate like the ones that ct electricity gives out to the good people in Connecticut because we are a business. But we have to keep somewhat warm – and if I can have it – I will leave the store temperature up at 25 degree Celsius the entire time we are at the store but of course that is not possible as the bill will definitely kill us.

So how does one keep healthy – without overpaying the power bill or oil bill? layers – yes! you heard right in layers – I dress Missy Moo and myself up in layers – that way if we are cold we can put on another layer and if we are hot take off one. All of Missy Moo’s pants has fleece lining – now that would definitely keep her a lot warmer than her friends. Unfortunately, adults can’t get that kinda pants – else I would too. How are you keeping healthy during Winter? share your tips please.

It’s truly sad when you see a young child having cold sore – because I’ve heard that they were darn painful! The other day – a kid came into our store – and he had cold sores – and Missy Moo was playing with him. I was a bit worried because you know when kids play – their saliva sometimes goes flying around and land on the other person. Sure we hope it doesn’t land on Missy Moo’s mouth or lips – but who’s to say it wouldn’t right?

Cold sores are contagious and they are known as oral herpes. Cold sores can be spread when there is a broken skin on the other person or thru’ kissing or sharing a fork, spoon or knife. Cold sores can be easily spread thru’ a parent who has cold sore and kisses their child. Once you have cold sores – it never goes away – even though it can be treated – it can be passed on to another person.

To prevent getting cold sores – you have to avoid kissing one with cold sore and also avoid sharing forks, spoon or a straw with one who has a cold sore. So I wasn’t being paranoid – I was trying to keep Missy Moo safe.

It’s that time of the year again – and once again – we had to order the Flu Mist for Missy Moo for her flu shots – from our local pharmacy. I had ordered it about a week ago – and yesterday I was told it was available – so I made the appointment to have Missy Moo get her flu shots today. We had to pick up the vaccine before leaving for the doctor’s and had to have them on ice pack – while they were packing the vaccine for me – I also noticed they were using a very nice and small printer – unlike ours that is quite big and white in color and pretty dirty by this time. The Epson TM-T88V that they were using was black in color and it was pretty small as compared to ours at our business – and being black in color – i can see that it won’t show that it is dirty after a few years like ours.

After collecting the vaccine – I went back to our store – and I told Mr Moo about the receipt printer I saw there – I like the fact that it was really fast when it printed out my receipt – unlike the one we are using. An auto cutter is always good for a printer – then I don’t have to worry tearing receipts out for our customers in horrible shape. And a new receipt printer like Epson has a 4 yrs warranty. We might consider the Epson TM-T88V for our next printer – when ours goes out of service – I guess the pharmacy must have some good tech savvy guy working and buying their electronics for them.

Darn ! i’m exhausted ! Missy Moo had been waking up in the middle of the night for a few nights now – at first it was the heavy rain – and then came the bad dreams – last night she woke up just because !!!!! I`ve explained to her why she can`t keep doing it – but she said she was about to cry because she can`t see me last night and woke up only because she can`t take it no more and had to come see me *slap forehead*.

I don`t really know why this is happening – but it sure is disrupting to my rest – and I can`t take it no more – so I told Mr Moo this evening that if Missy Moo wakes me up again – he is not to wake me up in the morning to send her to school – maybe that way she will know the consequences. On the other hand, I don`t want her to think that she can`t come to me – if she was having a nightmare right? so what can I do? I’m going to try the not sending her to school with Mr Moo first and if it still don’t work – I’m going to try bribing her. I know some parents frown on it – but hey ! staying in bed the whole night is a tough job – so she can be rewarded according to our family doctor.

But nope I’m not going to be sleeping on the floor with her – nor is she coming into our bed – because that would be worst and she would think that it’s ok to keep coming and disrupting our rest. The next move would be me sleeping really early that way I would get enough rest. No more late nights for me then. Wish me luck, people!

Missy Moo had been waking up every now and then in the middle of the night and coming to our bed to sleep. Even though it’s easy to get her into her own bed a little bit after – I find it hard to go back to sleep and thus, do not get enough rest. That’s suxs big time – because I become I zombie for days. As for why it doesn’t bother Mr Moo? he’s oblivious when Missy Moo comes to our bed and can turn around and fall straight back to sleep in seconds – literally seconds. Sometimes, I’m so mad at him for being able to go back to sleep so easily – I wanna smack him up – hahaha!! but studies shows that women with less sleep are more irrtable and stressed than men. So it’s time for the men to step up ! Going to have a talk with Mr Moo about this wake up – make sure he does the waking up – so that my sleep will not be interrupted.

So my medication for my panic attack is almost due for my yearly refill – that means I have to go see my family doctor again and get her to assess me to rewrite the prescription for another year. So I’m sure you all want to know how my panic attack is after taking my medication right? I call it my crazy meds – whenever I go pick my prescription from the pharmacy – and we all have a good laugh. What make the girls at the pharmacy have a laugh is the funny shirts i wear whenever i pop into the pharmacy because I try not to sweat the small stuff anymore. The only thing that gets me really excited and paranoid is Missy Moo – she can be really dramatic and even now I try to keep calm with her. But sometimes her whiny can caused me to get upset – and the other day – I was mad with her and lost my temper on her. I wished I didn’t do that and I regret losing my temper on her after shoving her into the washroom because she wouldn’t go in there – as she said there was spiders in them. I think I need to get Missy Moo to wear some funny t-shirts on her – that way maybe she will lighten up sometimes.

So Macdonald’s announced that they are providing our children a healthier meal – that still involves 500 calories a meal – hardly any healthier for a 7 years old you would think. But having said that – we do have to give our kids some junk food right ? yes, kids need to have some junk every now and then and shouldn’t we the parents be responsible for our kid’s diet instead of making Macdonald’s change their menu – to make us think that bad parents are good ones?
Missy Moo eats fries and nuggets every now and then – she wants the fries more than the nuggets and the toy and yes we are lucky because she never ask for a lot of junk food. But we also make sure that she gets her exercise – she drinks lots of water and no pop – and lots of running around. So Macdonald’s may be changing the happy meals in Fall but it’s still up to us parents to do the right thing and not push the fast food restaurant to do surface changes.

You know when we were kids – my mom didn’t teach us how to floss our teeth nor taught us to use mouth wash – it was very much later – when we were in our late teens before we knew all about this – and learned how to take care of our teeth better. Thank God ! there was still time. Missy Moo is really lucky because both Mr Moo and I are very careful with regards to her health - so when we found this – it’s not a mouth wash for kids – but a temporarily tinting on her teeth to help her brush her teeth better. It doesn’t have alcohol and it comes in two flavors – a minty one and a bubble gum one – so no prizes for guessing which one we bought – and only less than $6 at your pharmacy – it can help your kids get better teeth.

Sometime I cringed when I see the food that Missy Moo’s friends eat – I can’t imagine feeding Missy Moo the same way her friends are being fed. We cook our meals at home for Missy Moo especially when she is going to school – and we buy fresh food and cook them as fresh as we can. Feeding your kid healthy is important – but you also have to give her time to play, jump around and roll around the floor once in a while. We haven’t eaten at Macdonald’s the whole summer – because besides home cooked food – the only junk food she eats is fish and chips and only once a week at the most. We give her lots of fruits but that doesn’t mean she don’t get treats – she does – but while her friends’ parents give them a whole bag of junk – Missy Moo only get 1 or 2 pieces. I’m happy that we trained Missy Moo this way – because if she does wanna stuff herself silly – she can – but we know she will feel so sick and she will regret it big time. Feeding your kid healthy is important – but it’s just as important to educate them.

Missy Moo had been sick for a week now – and it had been a very tiring week. From going for blood test – and x-rays to screaming kid – and throwing up and diarrhea and hacking her lungs out – it wasn’t an easy week. But a dear friend who sells mobile homes brought one over – and told Missy Moo that she can go camping in the mobile home packed just in our driveway – thus making it like a holiday. How sweet is my dear friend right? Missy Moo was suspected to have pneumonia – therefore, our friend suggested she sleeps with one of us in the mobile home – that way Mr Moo won’t get infected in case she really does have pneumonia. What a great idea right? I mean what could be better than that – a home by itself – yet so near to our home- and definitely useful – now we are thinking of getting a mobile home to park in our backyard just in case one of us gets ill – and don’t want to spread the germs.

Very high tech these days – but can you blame businessmen who wants to make money out of fat kids? these days – kids are given all sorts of things to put into their mouth. I see it so often in Missy Moo’s school – I sometimes feel like squealing. When a kid is obese – it’s the parent’s fault – for not feeding them properly and giving them enough exercise and fresh air. So parents – step up and be the role model for your kids – don’t be slackers now – so that you don’t fall pry on things like a body fat monitor for your kids.

But walking the talk is important – this is what I do for Missy Moo – both of her meals are home cooked even when she has to eat in school or in camp. We make sure that she eats a fruit after each meal – and we also give her a small treat each day with a snack. Our take out or restaurant food for Missy Moo – is pan fried fish and some fries – but half a portion instead of a full portion. As for ice cream desserts – she only gets half of it. We keep her active all summer – by sending her to day camp and on weekends – she gets to spend with her grandparents outdoor. So if you kid is overweight or obese – you should be the one worrying and not them – you can’t expect them to eat carrot sticks – while you eat loads of donuts. So parents – step up now!

When you kid is allergic to something that you don’t know – life can be pretty darn scary – and Missy Moo have had allergies for the longest time – and for the life of us – we cannot figure out what she is allergic to. Once – she had hives so bad – that it covered her entire body and she was like only 2 years old. But does it mean that we don’t allow her to do anything or eat anything ? definitely not – but i know it can be stressful for parents – and i can fully understand it. For Mr Moo – he is quite gung -ho about it – or should I say he has the tidak – apa attitude – and he doesn’t worry too much about it. His attitude is – when it happens – I will deal with it then. But for a mom – we all know that we are very worried most times – but it doesn’t have to be – so I’ve been told – by stressing ourselves up – the kid will be stressed too. So relax – take the extra precaution and make sure everyone in camp or school knows that she has allergies but you don’t know what it is. If you are trying any new food or new shampoo – make sure to do it in small portions. Things happen – so don’t beat yourself up – if your kid gets the hive.

While Missy Moo was at the Y – last week doing her karate class – i sat at the recreation room waiting to pick her up. But as soon as she got out – she wanted to play with the toys at the recreation room and one of them was at the ping pong table aka table tennis. I used to play table tennis in school because the bats were cheap to buy when we were kids – and I played pretty well at it too. But it had been a long time since i played ping pong but am glad that I was able to give Missy Moo some ping pong tips . We played for like 30mins and I was sweating profusely – that reminded me that playing ping pong is also a form of exercise and I’ve seen some people selling ping pong tables on the yard sale at home. So if I do see one cheap enough I might just get one to put in our basement and use the ping pong table as a form of exercise – especially during winter. Now Mr Moo can’t say there are no games he can play with me – for I refused to play computer games or game console games with him. I love playing games but just not those you have to sit around and become a potato couch.

So I want a stress free vacation this summer and didn’t want to spend too much money – but I also didn’t want to be out of touch with the rest of the world – most importantly I want to make sure work can reach us and us them. So Mr Moo suggested camping at the lodge in Shelburne County and all we needed was to bring a long a cell booster home – that way we can be sure we can use our iPhone and cellphones. Mr Moo has one for the car – and it worked very well – for him especially if he had to travel for work in some remote area. I remembered that he was using it many years ago – when he was a traveling salesman – yes that he was – and I was still in Asia then. So yes – we can have a tent outside when the weather is good – or just camp out in the lodge and make campfires and roast some marshmallows with Missy Moo and watch old movies but not loose contact with the store – with a cell phone booster. I’m really hoping for a stress free vacation.

Missy Moo has a busy summer this year – from Summer camp – to Karate classes in the evening. We also signed her up to learn swimming this summer – for she really must know how to swim not only for health reasons but for safety reasons. We never had swimming classes when we were young – we learned how to swim myself – through trials and error (well – drinking lots of pool chlorine water). We bought her an outdoor watch by suunto and hopefully she would wear it for all her summer activities. We bought another ladies golf watch – for her aunt – who loves golfing – and it’s face plate is pink in color and so pretty – I just might get one for myself. But yes – I’m glad that we are keeping Missy Moo occupied for this summer. Maybe, next year – she can go for a golfing camp with her aunt and the local country club.

July 1st always reminds me of the time that we had to send Missy Moo to the hospital because of a very bad hives – but was it hives or mosquito bites that caused her to have that reaction – till today we are still not sure. But from that day on – we never let her go to the same playground again and also have her sprayed with bug and insects repellent during her days out in the sun like today. The only thing we don’t like about summer is the black flies and all the mosquitoes – even though we lived in town – the mosquitoes are terrible. But as parents we also want to make sure that we find the right cream or spray for your kid – and so we went hunting for something that would last and one that doesn’t smell either. We found a eucalyptus cream that work really well with her and it smells great too – and thus far when she uses it – she never has any trouble with any bugs or insects plus mosquitoes – I will make sure to take a picture of the cream and show you all. It cost like $9 if I am not wrong and we bought it from Superstore.

I just went for a walk to the park with Missy Moo – the sun was out but it was still chilly but the walk did me good – I’ve decided that I should track my walk and walk at least 5000 steps a day – to keep my blood sugar checked since I’ve been eating junk of late. I know that it would definitely be easier to get my exercise when Missy Moo is in day camp during the summer rather than to wait for her to sleep at night to do my step aerobics on the Wii – coz’ I get way too tired in the evening and dozing off is my regular thing these days – so with the pedometer – I can keep track of how many steps i took and how many miles I walked. Pretty cool eh!

So it is my birthday today and Missy Moo has some sort of rash – that we thought was hives – but it had gotten worst today. So we went ahead and booked her to see her family doctor. This doctor is new in town and from away – so she went on a panic mode and decided that it was chicken pox. She referred Missy Moo to a local pediatrician – who in turned confirmed that it was some kind of strep virus on the skin. It wasn’t contagious – and she was given antibiotics and away she was sent home. Missy Moo is alert – and eating well – but very itchy everywhere that’s all.
