Tooth Decay In Children

If you have a child that only drinks chocolate milk like mine – then I’m sure you at one time or another wondered if the chocolate milk is going to cause tooth decay right? I did too – worried I was till I read an article that chocolate milk is very unlikely to cause decay. It has to do with the tooth friendly coca and milk nutrients that offset the sugar in the chocolate milk. But taking a lot of juices and pop drinks will definitely erode the enamel of the kid’s tooth. Cavity is more prone on children who consume lots of juices and pop.

Time For A Dental Visit

Yes! it’s time for another dental visit soon - because one of my tooth is giving me problems – I can eat on one side of my mouth because it’s pretty sensitive now. But because of the last visit with my usual dentist – that caused my gums and tooth to hurt for months – I’m very apprehensive to go to him again. So I’m looking for a new dentist – even though my neighbor tells me she had no problems with the same dentist. Unfortunately, I love my dental hygienist and hate to leave her – and Dental Hygienist Jobs are not easy to find around town – so I guess she isn’t going to move anytime soon as far as she was concern. But yes! I need to visit a dentist really soon before I get into lots of trouble with my gums and mouth.

Kids With Better Teeth

You know when we were kids – my mom didn’t teach us how to floss our teeth nor taught us to use mouth wash – it was very much later – when we were in our late teens before we knew all about this – and learned how to take care of our teeth better. Thank God ! there was still time. Missy Moo is really lucky because both Mr Moo and I are very careful with regards to her health - so when we found this – it’s not a mouth wash for kids – but a temporarily tinting on her teeth to help her brush her teeth better. It doesn’t have alcohol and it comes in two flavors – a minty one and a bubble gum one – so no prizes for guessing which one we bought – and only less than $6 at your pharmacy – it can help your kids get better teeth.

Root Canal

So Missy Moo had gone to the dentist for her bi-yearly check up – and I also took the opportunity to tell the dentist that my teeth still hurt – and now he tells me I need a root canal !!!!! but i never had any pain before going to the dentist and all i did was to replace a filling that had fallen out since i was seeing the hygienist! and now I HAVE TO HAVE A ROOT CANAL!! what the hell right? so i’m really, really furious – and i’m making up my mind not to see this dentist no more. It’s just ridiculous ! because my teeth didn’t hurt at all – and now i can’t even chew on my left side! since February !!! I’ve already spent a couple of hundred dollars on my filling and then more on medication because it hurt for a month – now I’m told I have to spend more money – pretty ridiculous if you asked me.

Canker Sore On The Gums

So my headache didn’t go – nor did the pain in my mouth after my dental visit more than a month ago. I was pissed – and I called the dentist – because I didn’t know it was canker sore but they did take me in today – and he pronounced that it was canker sore – and it would take at least a week or so – before it would go. He also recommended a paste to use – instead of oral gel and to gurgle with salt water. So hopefully – it will go away soon – I can’t be taking Advil for a month now – it suxs!

My Dentist’s Office Driving Me Nuts

For 4 weeks now I have been having this pain in my mouth, jaws, cheeks and now the teeth that was filled by the dentist – and when I called to let them know that I haven’t been able to chew on my left hand side of my mouth – she asked me – “why’s that?” – WTH right!!!! it’s because it’s painful – damn it!!! How ding dong was that question? Yes, and I thought I was treating myself right – by doing the right thing – cleaning my teeth and filling in the bad spots! holy moly!! had i known this would happen – I would have let my teeth rot before going to the dentist! I wasn’t in any pain 4 weeks ago – and now – darn – so much pain – I can’t do anything right!!

Temporomandibular Joint aka TMJ

When I went for my tooth filling some 3 weeks ago – I thought that it was a simple procedure and that I was taking good care of myself but instead I end up with not being able to open my mouth wide enough for a fishball or a timbit without feeling pain. I developed a bad headache in the course of the last 2 weeks and even after checking with my dentist a week ago – he claimed that it was muscles. Today I called again – and the receptionist told me that he had spoken to the dentist and he thinks it is TMJ – a joint muscles that got pulled too long during the filling. I asked her how long it was going to take to heal – since it had been almost 3 weeks now – she said it could take months! JOY!!!!!! Anyhow, I checked up on TMJ and found that it was also known as the Temporomandibular Joint – which can caused headaches and cheek muscles being sore – so for those going to the dentist – please make sure that your dentist do not stretch your mouth wider than needed. This is terrible – I wonder if I can sue the dentist for malpractice – I’m pretty pissed.

Pain On Cheekbones & Headache

So my dentist appointment was a few days ago – but my cheekbones started to hurt and I have been having a bad headache since. I guess it’s the swelling from the dentist work? But I never had this kind of pain that lasted more than a day – usually whatever pain I would have – would have subsided by the next day. This is very strange – I don’t like the pain at all – because it is causing my eyes to hurt – just on the left side though. Darn!

Dentist Appointment For Filling

So I went back to my dentist a week after I had my scaling done at the dentist office. Did I tell you – that I love my dentist office – it’s cozy and it really isn’t scary at all – not even for Missy Moo . But it would be nice to get some ceiling fans because it is way too hot – I think they really have the heat turned up high – during the winter – but when you are the patient and having work done on your teeth – yes – it can cause you some sweat. And for someone like myself – who have anxiety problems – it’s important to keep cool. So yes! the next time I go to my dentist office – I’m gonna suggest some ceiling fans – nothing fanciful – but it would be great for patients like myself.

Ok lets get back to my filling – it took an hour and a few injections to numb my gum but there was a lot of tugging and I feel really bad for my dentist – it seems like he was having a hard time with it. But it was finally good to go – but the rest of the week – i keep biting my gums! today – I developed a migraine from the pain in my mouth darn! and I was like $215 poorer *sob* but what can I do right – gotta fill it up. I told Mr Moo – I’m gonna get Missy Moo to go into dentistry.

Dental Care In Canada

Missy Moo just went for her yearly dental appointment – and yes – in Canada – dental care is free right up till when they are 10 yrs old from what i understand. And even though it used to be twice a year you can see the dentist for free – it’s only once a year now. So they did make another appt for Missy Moo for next year but i called them up and made it for 6 months – we will pay the difference of $63 – afterall, it is important to take care of their teeth eh – when they are young – it’s like going for a quick trim every 3 weeks for me.

It’s really crazy i think even though Canada has this Universal health plan – but not dental plan for the adults – so if I were you and in Canada – i’ll definitely asked my kid to become a dentist – i mean everyone needs a dentist every now and then eh – so even if you don’t make it rich – you will still comfortable in this profession.

Dentist Oh Dentist !

You know.. i have mixed feelings.. when I heard dentist from home was retiring … but this morning.. i had to re-schedule an appt with him at his office.. and i think i cannot wait for him to leave now .. not because i don’t like him.. but because i do not like to deal with his office.

When you work in the line where you deal with people who are sick or not feeling well, be it a dentist, a psychiatrist or even a vet it is important.. that you are nice and compassionate. The feeling i get from this dentist office is cold, i fly all the way out to see him and it’s just cold .. not only n bad hair days.. but always. So yes.. i really cannot wait for him to go.. and never have to deal with his office again. In the event, if some of the staff he moved into the our new dentist office.. i would do my darnedest to change dentist. I really do not wanna deal with his old staff no more, afterall, it’s a long way home eh.

Snotty Health Care Secretary

Missy Moo’s caps from the dentist dropped a few days ago, while she was ill. I had called up the dentist office to ask them for advice.. because the cap had stuff in it.. that was grossed looking.. and her teeth looked horrid.. almost rotten. When we had caps in. .it certainly didn’t look this way.

When i asked the secretary.. she in returned told me a matter of factly . .that there were cavities.. when we had the caps put in. Of course i knew that.. but her cavities.. didn’t look anything like that.. not a patch of brown.. she had teeth.. !!!! white ones..!!! and when we tried to make an appt for Missy Moo.. and told the secretary that it had to be next week.. because Missy Moo is still hacking her lungs out.. she asked me.. ” so when will she be well..?? ” again in an indignant manner.

What kinda question was that..?? I should have answered her with .. “wait, let me get my crystal ball out!” but i wasn’t so sharp then… arrrghhh..!!! which i did buy memory for my PDA . .and had all these come back. .when i have to speak to these snotty secretaries. Secretaries for health care services.. must have training in being compassionate .. else they shouldn’t be in that position at all. Time to shoot the dentist a “nice snotty” letter about his secretary.. and change dentist…!

Dental Appointment

In Canada, for kids under the age of 12 i think they get free dental care.. but wait a minute..! when they say free.. they are not entirely free. Free for only once a year, so anytime your kid has a broken teeth or a problem with rotting teeth, you still have to pay for it. But the government is willing to spend millions of dollars on buildings that are not even fully utilized.. but perhaps need some spider traps, just because they are under used. How can the town that i am in justify something like that..? and not give medical care fully to their next generation…?? it’s beyond me.

Paying For Dental Work

Dental work is not covered by our local medical insurance that we all get for being either a citizen or a PR. For my daughter, if she needed dental work after the age of 12, we will have to dip into our savings accounts. And you know what they say.. as soon as the coverage expires, that will be when she would need work done.

Put To Sleep To Fix Kid’s Teeth

The dentist had to put the kid to sleep, so that she can get some fillings done and apparently they also capped it for her. It was quite a frightening experience for me.. to be honest because i had never heard about it before.

We started preparing the kid .. since she is only 4 yrs old.. about the trip to the hospital.. and had to have her blood tested 2 weeks before the day. We had a pre-op day to show her where everything is, and where her teeth work would be done in our local hospital. Followed by a trip to her family doctor to ensure that she was in good health.

The day arrived yesterday.. and she did pretty good.. and didn’t fussed about going into surgery without us going into OR with her. There was sadness in me.. when she had to walk into the OR on her own without us. I had fear .. this was the last time i was gonna to see my precious kid. I know i’m very dramatic.. but she is my life.

All went well… but she was very sore.. for a day.. the next day she didn’t eat too, too much till supper time, she asked for more potatoes. Lets hope she does better tomorrow with the food department.
