Snack Without The Extra Calories

Snacking without the extra calories is not only for diabetics I think – I think no one wants to put on more calories than they should.   So here are a few examples – on some of the snacks that wouldn’t put you out or make you worry about the extra calories – do try them – recommended by diabetic living and things I would eat and snack on.

Pear and cheese is one of them – Raisin and pumpkin seeds (but be careful with the raisin – because it’s very sweet and must contain high content of sugar), half a whole wheat bagel with some low fat swiss cheese or cheese toast made from whole grain melba toast – 3 slices and my favorite – is apple and peanut butter – try the low fat peanut butter and you can also try crackers and cheese – of course go for the whole wheat crackers and the low fat cheese please.  Well, these are the few that I eat – hope it helps you as much as it did for me.

An Appointment With My Dental Hygienist

So I went to clean my teeth today -  it was ok – but I feel really bad for my hygienist because she had to work so hard to get out all those tar and gunk on my teeth.  But I’m glad I went – even though I was charged more – I think it may be because of having to do more work on my teeth.  Now that my teeth is healthy and white – I can’t wait to get back to doing my step aerobics and yoga everyday.  If all else failed before May’s wedding – I’m going to get some weight loss pills -  desperate situation, requires desperate action.   Poor PB a $135 poorer.  Wish me luck everyone.

No Sweat Exercises

Our common excuses for not exercising is – NO TIME!  yes ! yes!  i too use this excuse – so don’t be too hard on yourself – if you used this excuse a few times a week.  Plus I know how busy our work plan can get  but did you know that even in small doses of exercises – it does the body good.  The plan is to get moving and doing something for 30 mins each day  – and if you can mix and match – you probably find it a lot easier to do your 30mins.   Try that out !  I do that all the time – thus making it so much easier – no sweat at all.

Inspirational Weight Loss Stories

You would be surprised how much successful  and real weight loss stories inspires fat people like me.  Yes!  I’m getting FATTER!!!   I’ve been having so much good food! it’s crazy!!!  i can’t help it !! i just love good food!!  what can i say right?  I live to eat – while Mr Moo eat to live and he once again told the friends tonight during a dinner.   But yes ! every time I have a setback – I read these success weight loss stories and I’m back being a good girl and watching what I eat all over again.  I can’t help it – I’m an emotional eater – I eat when I’m happy – and I eat when I’m sad!  I need motivation !

Emotions & Stress During Christmas

Christmas is usually the season where most people are very stressed – for me it’s double the stress because not only do I have Christmas shopping to think about – I have Missy Moo’s school and birthday to take care of.  Mr Moo of course would say – “it’s up to you dear” – so clever – maybe next time I have to do the same too.  Luckily, I’m on medication this year -  and do I feel ashamed of taking the medication – absolutely NOT!  if I didn’t get help – things may have gotten worst.  So if you are getting all flustered and stress this Christmas – make sure you speak with your family doctor about it soon.

Durian Feast

Durian doesn’t come by easily for me here in Canada – so when I had gotten some frozen ones – brought back by a Vietnamese lady who was in the city – fresh !  what did we do?  we had a durian fest – but as you all know – durian is high in cholesterol and also lots of calories  but I figured I don’t eat them often – so I should feast on them when I get a chance.  But after having the sweet and fleshy durians – guess what?  i felt so guilty – and fat!  I now need some good diet pills that work coz’ I’m attending a cultural festival at the end of the week – and I can’t be looking bulgy right?  so besides the diet pills – I am eating less this week – and also exercising a lot and giving up on my coffee too – i need to be able to get into my dress for the event.

Taking Control Of Your Diet

Easier said than done – I know!  I too struggle sometimes – with making the wise decision – but lets explore together – and see what are the low-sugar food we can eat and drink.  Be sure to read the labels – that I learned very quickly.  Even though some may say lite or no sugar added – one may have more sugar than the other.  Just remember that even if you are taking something that say light sugar – that doesn’t mean that you should cramp the whole bag of food – or whole bottle of light juice into you all at once.  If I have a craving for pop or juice – I drink only very little of them – that way – I can still keep my blood sugar level in check.  Yogurt is great for everyone – but those that are flavored are usually high in sugar content – I took the advise of Diabetic Living and use only plain yogurt and cut up fresh fruits into it.  I eat an orange a day after every meal – or pick another fruit – that way instead of filling up with carbs – I fill up with fruits.

Planning A Family Trip

We are planning a family trip to Moncton – for a wedding – and what better to do it with our RV that we had bought last summer.  We got our rv insurance quote – and I told Mr Moo to bring the RV in for a quick check with our RV company – to make sure that everything is working right – so that I don’t have to worry about breaking down in the middle of our family trip.  It’s going to be so fun and I’m so looking forward to it – but I have to remember not to over-stress myself.  But with an RV – I can bring everything I want – with us – and guess what – the outlaws will be coming in our RV with us – so we save on accommodation and my outlaw can take turns to drive the RV – no worries again about Mr Moo driving alone and getting too tired!   We are going to have  so much fun!  you all know that a vacation with the family can only be good  for the health right?

Twisted Intestine

I know this is going to sound really weird but ever since my operation a few years ago – I cannot do anything – like bend too far – to wash my bath-tub or do sit up – because my intestines feels like it is twisted.  When I tried to pick up a baby from the ground – it did that to me again.   Yes! i feel like my intestine or my tummy flipped.  It is darn painful but it only last for a bit – but you can feel sore the entire day – and I need to usually lay down on the bed for a few hours – before I can feel myself – feeling better again.   Mr Moo said – it may be because now that the huge fibroid is outta the way – so is the uterus – there is just too much room to move around – hahah! but i will check with my family doctor the next time I see her.

Jogging With My New Gadget

I’ve been out jogging and walking with a walking club recently – motivated by the walking club in town – so Mr Moo bought me a  blackberry bold to have with when I am out there.    It has so many features – from playing my favorite songlist to calling Mr Moo – when I’m too tired after my jog/walk – to pick me up.  I love that I don’t have to use up my minutes – because I can text Mr Moo with it – or tweet to him – when I’m walking.   It also has a GPS function – so we won’t get lost – when we are running – so the club joke.  I love my jogging sessions – but I loved it more with my new gadget – I don’t have to worry about not being able to contact Mr Moo – when I’m out with my friends.

Very Dry Winter Skin

This year my skin seems to be the worst – in all my years here in Canada – in fact some days they are so bad – my knuckles cracks its skin – and it can be very painful.  I don’t know if it is the store – that is dry or the home – both I spend as much time in.  Missy Moo has a humidifier in her room – so I may try and use it in our room instead and see if it helps – in the meantime – I’m going to try and moisturize even the heels of my feet – whenever I get the time.  I’m using Body Shop’s Cocoa butter – and I’m hoping it will help soon.

Get Well Cards

I have lots of friends from all over the world and used to send postcards and get well cards or just “hello” cards to stay in touch with them.   But we all know that all these cards are not as personalized – so I resorted to using postcard printing which I can pick and choose the design I want.   I love to send out cards with our family pictures on them – to show how much Missy Moo has grown or to show that Mr Moo and I are still together and it’s actually a lot more less expensive to do it this way.  Since Missy Moo loves having her pictures taken and dressing up – we also dress her up as a doctor to send out get well cards to friends and family – it’s pretty unique right?  try it yourself – it’s a lot more personable.

Hurting Heel

The side of my heel had been hurting for a few days now – and I suspected it must be my winter boots – they must be wearing thin on one side perhaps?  anyhow I was due for a new winter boots and plus being diabetic I had to be very careful not to hurt my feet – else I might get it chopped off for nothing.  So I finally got around to doing it – and even though I haven’t worn it yet – I guess it would be great – just to get a new winter boots.

Weighing In Again

Got myself a new weighing scale for my bedroom – so I won’t make any excuses and ignore weighing myself every week.   You see I have been trying to lose weight and I avoid the scales at home – if I was being bad for the week – and would make excuses not to weigh myself – for fear to see that I had put on weight again.  so Mr Moo bought me one for my bedroom – that way – when I see the scale – I have no excuse not to weigh in and exercise – hahah!! guilt tripping me of course.   But yes ! it works – because I see the scale and tell myself – I’ve gotta go do my aerobics now and if I go to sleep not doing it – I just feel bad.  So if you are anything like me – get a scale into that bedroom of yours and leave it – where you can’t missed it.

Diabetic & Bruises

My bum hurts when I am sitting down – no kidding !  and then I found out that I had a bruise on my buttocks – but that’s not worried me most – it is more because I’m diabetic and I cannot remember how i got a bruise on my bum – so I’m gonna watch it for a day or two and see if the bruise subsides or not – else I have to see my doctor soon again!  You all know that being a diabetic – you gotta be careful right?  especially with bruises and cuts – so yes! if you happen to have one – that don’t wanna go away – see your family doctor like now.

Sing Your Way Outta Stress

Did you know that singing in a  karaoke can reduce stress?  no?  you’ve gotta try it out then – because it really does.   Whether you are singing alone – or you are singing in a group – i think it helps a great deal.  I remembered being so stressed out at work at one point in my life – I sing in a karaoke everyday – near my office and after going to the Karaoke – i come back all refreshed and ready to face the world again.  I think by voicing out in songs – you relieve the tension in your body and you help your body to relax therefore, even the blood pressure become normal.  I don’t know about you – but you might want to go out and try book a room for a karaoke session – plus some food is good at the karaoke but make sure you don’t go to the karaoke for alcohol alone because that is a no- no for the health.
