Spotting 8 Months After Hysterectomy
An update .. on my spotting 8 months after my hysterectomy. 4 days ago, i had spotting for the first time.. after 8 months.. of my hysterectomy, it had stopped since. Only a few drops in total.. but as of the next day, it stopped. According to my ex-gynae, who moved to Ottawa now.. he doesn’t think i need to be alarm. I am continuing to monitor.. and making sure.. i am not too stressed. I still have pain today.. on my left abdomen .. but i only took 1 tablet of tylenol for pain so far today. Will continue to update.. till i’ve seen the new gynae in another 17 days.
Update On Spotting 8 months After Hysterectomy
The spotting stopped for 2 days now.. but this evening i notice a very tiny spot of blood again – after bathing Missy Moo. I called my gynae who has now moved to Ottawa .. and talked to him about the spotting. He thinks it could be granulation tissues.. and if it was that, some silver nitrate administer in the new gynae’s office would do it. He also suggested an ultra sound should my spotting continues before the 17 March. I’m just so very glad that i managed to get ahold of him. .in Ottawa.. and it is definitely my personal lost .. that he has moved to another city. The hospital in this town.. didn’t treat him well enough i guess..?? But i know my gynae is gonna do great things.. for others.. i have no doubt about it. After speaking with my old gynae.. i’m not so afraid anymore.. nor stressed. I was even able t look for some PVC fence and managed to shower .. before Mr Moo came home from work.
Pinching Pain
No spotting since yesterday morning.. so more than 24hrs. I feel less stressed.. but still.. it doesn’t make sense.. why i spotted. Don’t like it at all. The gynae’s office confirmed my appt for the 17th March.. and told me to call..if the spotting got worst.
There were noticeable pinching pain on my right abdominal .. but yesterday was the left. but the man said.. i had complained about this pinching pain before… so that is a relieve to know. Everything seems worst than normal.. and it may only be in my head. I will stay positive.. but my tummy does feel a little more sore than usual. And here i thought i was on the road to recovery.. and started doing more housework.. and carrying Missy Moo. *sigh*. I’m gonna have to take it easier.. and haven’t bathed Missy Moo for the last 2 days… letting Mr Moo do it.
My only consolation right now. is that i’m not spotting anymore.. so that has gotta be a good sign eh. I’ll continue to let all know about my condition.. in hope to help others.. who might be experiencing the same .. as I am.. find some comfort and answers.. that you are not alone.
Spotting 8 Months After Hysterectomy
I’ll be damn..!! if i know why i am spotting.. which started yesterday. Nothing outta the ordinary that i did.. nor was i having sex. I’m not bleeding or anything.. just a few drops of blood.. on my panty liner.. but that’s enough to get me into a nervous wreck that I am right at this moment.
Called the new gynae up.. the old one has left for greener pasture.. and have an appointment the earliest in March. *sigh* .. oh well..!! not like i’m bleeding yet.. or anything.. but i’ll keep everyone to date.. if anyone is interested.
Suppositories
Since Missy Moo had been haviing fever on and off.. we had told her that we will need to give her some suppositories.. if she didn’t wanna take her medication. She calls it bum medication.. and had asked if it would hurt.. just yesterday.. and i had tried to explain it to her. Even though we would hate to stick it up her bum.. we know it doesn’t hurt.
While many parents like myself.. shudder at the very thougt of suppositories, this is actually the best alternative if a child is very sick.. especially with high fever, throwing up .. or refusing any kind of medication. The discomfort is very temporary .. and it is usually .. the parents who feels the discomfort more than the kid.. so they say.
One way .. that can help .. or tip.. when you are administrating suppositories .. for your kid.. is to ask them to blow imagineary bubbles.. it helps to relax and distract them. And it also helps to bring the suppository to room temperature and to warm your fingers under warm water. Avoid using Vaseline, which creates a barrier to the drug.
PharmaSystems Alligator Spoon

This alligator medicine spoon can help the medication go down in a fun and accurate way. At $1.89, it is great for toddlers and infants. I love the Missy Moo knows that this is a special medication spoon.. we can it a Dr Alligator spoon.
Pregnant Woman & Fish
When I was pregnant with Missy Moo, the pre-natal classes had advised us not to take any raw fish .. but that does not mean that you cannot eat fish. Just the raw ones. Most pregnant women are afraid to eat fish because of mercury. It is said that the high levels of mercury can cause neurological damange in fetuses. But fish is important for moms and babies; as it promotes healthy brain development and reduces risk for cardiovascular disease. And there is plenty of low mercury fish in the sea. It is therefore safe to say that pregnant woman can eat fish such as salmon, sole and rainbow trout. So pregnant women out there.. go right ahead and eat as much as you can. I wished i had eaten more .. when i was pregnant.
Dried Fruit

As parents, we all want to make sure.. that we give the best to our kids – food is one major concern .. that all other parents can agree with me .. that we take special care. For some like myself, we believed that giving dried fruits is another way of getting them the Vitamin C that they need. But is dried fruit a good snack to send to school..?? is dried fruit a healthy snack.. that we make our kids think they are..??
By weight, dried fruit has higher concentration of fibre, vitamins and minerals than fresh – but also more calories and natural sugar. If we keep the portions small about a quarter cup (50ml) – then dried fruit can be nutritious and healthy. It can satisfy a sweet craving for the young one too.
Viral Infection
The doctor had said that Missy Moo must have some kinda viral infection.. and it’s quite common at this time of the year. But can one have fever one day.. and gone the next day.. and then come back again .. in 2 days..?? this was exactly .. what had been happening to Missy Moo. Plus when she is this sick.. she doesn’t wanna eat at all… she is so skinny now.. she wouldn’t need any weight loss pills for a long, long time.. if she was an adult. She hardly weigh anything now. That poor girl..!!
X-Ray For Missy Moo
Missy Moo was sick again yesterday.. a low grade fever. We made an immediate appt to see her doctor again this afternoon. The doc thinks it’s viral infection . .but just to be safe .. he wants a chest x-ray.. followed by some blood test.. and urine test/culture.
We’ve done the xray.. and she was pretty good about it.. according to Mr Moo .. i didn’t get to go.. because i needed to watch the store. But it pretty much went well for everyone. I heard the radiologist were pretty good. .and even wore some sexy wigs to distract her. We are dreading the blood test.. to come next week. .if she still comes back with a fever. But one has gotta do what you’ve gotta do eh.
Helping Your Kids Take Medication
We have truly been blessed.. because we don’t really have much trouble .. getting Missy Moo to take her medication. But this time.. after being sick for so long, i guess she got tired of taking the medication.. and gave us a really hard time.. for a day or two.. with medication taking.
Here are some tips.. that may help.. your kids understand the goodness of taking medication.
Do offer an explanation
How..?? just by simple explanation ..depending on how old your kid is.. and of course use their level of speech and thinking.. when you are explaining stuff. Tell them what the medication is for.. and how it will help them feel better. Kids knows and understand more than we give them credit for .. and they will be a lot more co operative when they understand the reason behind doing it .. like taking medication.
Don’t forget a reward
Stickers can be great reward and can motivate a kid to take their medication. But you can also try, first take your medication and then we can read a book together.
Do offer Choices
Missy Moo has her moods.. she sometimes.. wants the cup .. and others insist on spoon. So let them choose what they want, that way they feel that they are the “boss” .. hehe!!
Don’t hurry it
Take your time and don’t hurry to pour those medication down your kids’ throat. Choose a good time .. and a good place to let them take their medication. Making sure that you are not stressed nor hurried .. works a lot better for your kid.. because you and I know.. they sometimes.. need a little loving.\
Good luck..! i hope my tips help.
Broccoli Boost

As much as a lot of ppl hate to eat broccoli and some even swear that the broccoli gives them such bad gas, they lay it right off, broccoli is good for most of us. It is said that it’s bursting with disease fighting chemicals, full of viatmins C, K and A and even has folate good for those trying to get pregnant .. or already pregnant and lots of fibre. Plus there are some calcium and iron in broccoli too .. i was told. So eat those broccoli up.. and if you don’t know how to cook your broccoli .. head over to my food blog – www.icecubejunkie.com .. and i’ll have some tips and tricks that works for me and Missy Moo.
Changes After A Laposcropic
One of the things I’ve noticed 6 months after a laposcropic for a bowel obstruction, is that i can’t stomach too much food no more. When i get greedy .. or worried.. i didn’t get enough to eat.. before i go to bed.. my tummy really feels awfully bad. But having said that .. you will be surprised.. that i get hungry easily too. So if you ask me..i don’t know if it was the hysterectomy to remove the fibroids.. or is it the laposcropic surgery that i had. I guess there will be just no way to tell.. and i’m darn sure the doctors ain’t gonna tell me either. Not as simple as explaining some moth traps eh.
The Good Fats
So what is the good fat you asked..?? or so many of my friends asked.
Monounsaturated fats are said to improve blood cholestrol levels. And here are some of the sources, olive oil, canola oil, peanut oil, non-hydrogenated margarine, avocados, almond, pistachios, cashews, pecans and hazelnut. Outta the so many i’ve mentioned above.. i only take like 5 .. but that’s ok.. including any one of the above is great.
Polyunsaturated Fat also known as (omega-3) can be found in mackeral, sardine, herring, rainbow trout and salmon. Canola and soybean oil and Omega 3 eggs, flaxseed, walnuts, pecans and pine nuts. So if you haven’t incorporated these into your diet.. please start now.
Polyunsaturated Fat also known as (omega 6) can be found in safflower, sunflower and corn oil, non hydrogenated margarin, almonds, pecans, brazil nuts and sun flower seeds.
Ok.. what about the bad.. i hear you asked.. to be cont’d.. in the next post.
Fats 101
So i hear that there are the good and bad fats in our diet .. well..! these dietician sure makes one go on a merry go round sometimes eh. We all know that we need a certain amount of fat .. in our diet for good health. Oils and fats supply calories the essential fats to help our bodies absorb fat soluble vitamins, like the Vitamins A, D, E and even K .. although i rarely hear about the K. But i was told that both type of fats and the amount one consumes are a very important factor for health.
The good and the bad .. later.
Missy Moo Was Sick Again
Missy Moo was sick again .. last week.. and after a week of antibiotics.. she got well again. This fever and cold plus hacking cough had been lasting for close to a month now. We are very worried.. but even though she was ill and all.. it is amazing how she kept herself active and all. Yes, she did sulk .. and played with the tv stand a little to amuse herself.. but overall, she was a really good patient. We seems to be running into some difficulty .. about the medication part – she doesn’t wanna eat certain medication. *sigh* .. that’s the hardest. But we tried and tried.. and she finally did eat.
