It’s Strangeeee.. We Got To See The Doctor !

Missy Moo was sick and her throat didn’t look so good.. and was losing her voice.  So like any parent .. as soon as the holiday was over.. we called the family doctor… and guess what..??  they took us in the same day..!!! unbelieveable..!!! in fact, we had been really lucky with regards to seeing the family doctor.. i wonder if the doctor is not so busy..??  or is it the work of his assistant..??  I wished we knew.. that way .. we would be able to take the right action.. so that we are in the good books of the family doctor.

Yes.. you heard me right..  her in Canada.. you really need to pull out all the tricks .. you have, just to see your doctor.  You wouldn’t have caught me saying this .. some 10 yrs ago.. when i was in Asia.. or traveling for work. I never had so much trouble seeing a doctor anywheres.. except here in this town.  I was in India .. New Dehli .. 20 yrs ago.. and i had food poisioning.. and got to see the doctor immediately.. although of course it was the house doctor from the hotel.  So yes.. what a difference eh.

When You Are A Diabetic On Holiday

So you are a diabetic.. what do you do.. during Christmas and the Happy New Year’s bash..??  Being diabetic doesn’t mean no more celebration.. or the end of eating all the goodies.  It just means .. you have to eat everything in moderation.

It’s funny how learning that I am diabetic makes me what to eat chocolate everyday.. when I never had a craving for them before.  So don’t forget to monitor your sugar.. during the holiday .. and eat with moderation. .and don’t forget the exercises and long walks.

The Doctor Who Refused To Operate On Me

When i was having my kid about 5 yrs ago yesterday, the only gynae on duty then refused to do a c-section on me.. and insisted that my kid wasn’t overdue.  I’m the mother .. and I know that my kid didn’t drop an inch.  Today, we were at the mall.. and found a credit card. .and a closer look at it.. saw that the name of that doctor was on it.  My very first thought was to return it of course.. and after returning it to the customer service.. at the mall, i thought i should have just kept it .. and make him panic.. muahahahhaaha!! just like he made me panic.. for not giving me a c-section sooner.  My kid was 2 weeks late..and i was so stress up that I thought I would surely need Decaslim after giving birth to my kid, because i was bloated ..!!  I wonder if he realised that he was putting me and my kid in danger.. because he thinks we cannot afford to pay for it..??  I really cannot understand why .. but till this day.. i cannot forget what kinda risk .. he put me and my kid to.

Santa Box For 4 East

I had planned to get some angel hooks for the nurses of the hospital in town… for the many comfort they brought to me .. during my stay in the hospital .. some 6 months ago.  I was staying on the 4th Floor East Wing.. and the nurses were awesome.  But i didn’t managed to get enough angels.. so instead.. i’m gonna send this cookies from Santa instead… plus try to find the nurse who bathed me.. when i was sick.  She was the best nurse ever..!!!

Win A Tree & Support The Hospital

We were at the hospital to see the family doctor yesterday.. and although it is so near Christmas.. it was kinda depressing that they didn’t really focus on decorating and cheering the sick people in the hospital nor the nurses.  Nurses needs cheering up too yer know.. afterall, they really do a lot more than the doctors..  even though the doctors get paid so much more.. and get so much more respect.  If i had the time.. i would definitely go rally for the nurses.  And for those who knows me.. you would know that i’m gung-ho about stuff like that.  What about you ..?? have you been touched lately by the nurses.. in your area..??  if so, share it with me.. and i will highlight their name on my blog.

Our Family Doctor

We must be having some kinda luck lately with our family doctor’s office.  Not only did we get to see him like immediately today.. as soon as we called.. it’s a miracle.. that he gave sample medication to Missy Moo to bring home.  It’s funny .. how Missy Moo was so impressed with our family doctor.  But it was pretty cool.. in fact we went out to get him a Christmas card today… instead of getting our pet supplements.  You see .. it really doesn’t take much to please us.. just a whole box of kid’s tylenol. muahahahhaa!!

The Things We Promised When We Are Sick

Yes..!! yes..!! i fall into that category of people where we tell ourselves.. we are not gonna do this or that.. if we get outta the hospital alive.  During my second surgery.. the emergency one.. which had me staying in the hospital for a week or so.. i had also promised myself.. to take a better perspective of my life.. and learn to relax .. and do healthy things with Missy Moo like scrapbooking.  But 5 months after my operation, I am still not spending enough quality time with her.  I’m thoroughly ashamed of myself.. *smack my own head*.. so come today.. i made my new year resolution.. and that is to spend more time with Missy Moo.  What about you ..?? what kinda promises did you make while you were out sick.

Inefficient Or What..?

I called the hospital today.. on a mission to get the nurses name on the 4th floor surgical ward but only to be told.. that records only goes back to September.  The nurse who spoke to me.. transferred me to the HR department for assistance.  I left a message at 2.15pm this afternoon.. but no return call as of yet.  Here i am trying to do something nice.. for the hardworking nurses.. and this is what i get..?? Hmmmm… !

Having said that.. the accounts department is very efficient though.  I’m not saying .. i get my bills or get chased for medical bills.. but when i called to ask for my records from a few years ago, they got back to me immediately.  I can’t remember the name of the lady..  but I know for sure.. she is french.   So lets hope the HR dept don’t disappoint me.. coz’ i need to go get my angels.

Missy Moo Is Sick !

Missy Moo is sick again..!! she barely got over the last cold and diarrhea.. and another cold again.  No fever, not much coughing.. so we figured we didn’t need to rush in to see the family doctor, afterall, I doubt we will get in to see him immediately.  Yes, don’t even get me started on the wait time to see the doctor.  Back home, if you are sick, you get to see your doctor immediately, here.. you better make an appt to see God instead.  So anyhow, this time I am smart too.. i didn’t send Missy Moo to school nor am I gonna to tomorrow.. because I rather not stress her out .. like the last time.. by making her go to school.. and she got all stressed up.. and got a tummy bug instead.  I think it was nerve.. to be honest… coupled with a few things that happened in school. Nothing is more important.. than to make sure she feels good.. before going back not even buying the much needed office furniture that we had planned to go looked at this afternoon.

Showing Appreciation For Nurses

I am grateful for the few nurses that helped me.. when i was in the hospital.  A few that made my stay there bearable.   Yes, the nurses do make some money.. but the things they do for me.. when i was in the hospital.. i doubt even my sister would do the same for me.

And to these nurses.. i really think they deserve more than they are currently paid.  These nurses showered me.. washed my hair.. took my poop out from the washroom.. to have it examined by the lab.  They really took care of me.. on the 4th floor .. of the Yarmouth Regional Hospital.

So this Christmas, I hope to get enough angel hooks..and give each of them one.  Tomorrow.. I am gonna call the hospital and get their names.  Hopefully, I can make them feel appreciated.

Reduce Wrinkles .. HELPPPP..!!

At 43 .. my girlfriend gets really upset . they don’t see any wrinkles on my face.  They say i’m darn lucky.. but they don’t really know my secret.. because i take Lipovox but when i tell them about it.. they think i am kidding.  But i kid you not .. because it not only help burn fat, get rid of those ugly acne .. and also reduces wrinkles. Try it for yourself.. if you don’t believe me.

Toning The Body For This Christmas

Yes, after my surgeries .. i have been trying to tone up for a real Christmas celebration this year.  Some had asked if i was on diet pills because of my hysterectomy.. and the doctor had taken out my huge fibrioids.   I mean c’mon it was the size of a new born.. so you can imagine .. how pregnant i looked right..??  So even with the pills.. you can see a real difference… even the spouse’s father don’t get a chance to tease me anymore about my tummy.. and wondering if i was really sure it was not a baby inside me.  In which the man replied . ..  “if it was a baby .. then the baby is a few years old now.”

Charity Drive @ Hospital

Back home in Singapore.. i had never seen a charity drive to buy an MRI machine and its like. Most of our hospitals are semi-privatized and although the government in Singapore is very much a part of the health care system back home.. they hired professsionals to make the hospital profitable.. yet taking care of the needs of its people.

For the last 8 yrs, the local hospital had been having a charity drive.. for a MRI machine.. and now something else i think.  Of course, I have no problems with it.. afterall, it does benefit the people of this town and the various country near us.  But having been on the other end.. whereby I had to PAY for medical before my MSI card came, the hospital charged enormous fees  which i am sad to say.. didn’t not meet up to the standards back home.  For $1700 per nite for a shared room, the room that i was in when i was giving birth to Missy Moo .. was noisy.. and constantly had other patients changing room every other day.  It was disruptive and stressful, the bar faucets needs working on .. because the hot water was cold.. and the cold water was hot.  Like I said.. i’m all for charity drive.. but i am not impressed with what i saw when i was staying in the hospital.

Diabetes Talk

The local supermarket invited a doctor to talk about diabetes and how one can get cure from diabetes.  I am indeed quite skeptical .. but if i didn’t go.. i wouldn’t know what it is right..?? so i did sign up for it.. and it’s scheduled for the 13th December.  So is there really a cure for diabetes..?? I can be hopeful eh..??  but i’m not raising my hopes too high. In the meantime, i better watch my diet.. coz’ i think i’m taking too much starch still.  Starch and diabetes donch go together.. because starch spike up the blood sugar.  So moderation is the key to anyone who has Type 2 diabetes.  Stay tune while i report back on the diabetes talk.

Health Care In Canada

I have never seen signs like that in any of our hospital back home.. or the doctor’s office.  But here in Canada.. you see lots of signs and rules to inform you way ahead of time. .that if you are rude to your doctor, they can not take you in as a patient.  Now isn’t it too funny..?? or is there a problem in the health care system here.. that they are so blind and refused to acknowledge it nor addressed it..??  Back home, going to see our doctor .. is like visiting a friend.. here.. they don’t even have  promotional pens to give you during Christmas.. !! sad eh..!!

Don’t You Hate Visiting Your Gynea..??

I don’t hate my gynae.. i have to state first.  How to.. ?? haven’t met him before… muahahahha!!!  but i hate visiting the doctors here.  Firstly, they make you wait.. and secondly .. I HATE PAP SMEAR..!!    Well.. Dr Hafazala is the gynae replacing my old one.. Dr Mukherjee.. my favorite doctor and i had made an appt to see him.. as a follow up from my hysterectomy.  I would think they would have called earlier.. but the office didn’t.. so i had to take the iniative to do it myself.  I’m not really looking forward to it.. but I always think it is good to touch base with your doctors.. and this is exactly what i am doing… a duty as a patient.
