The Nurses & Doctors Must Think I’m Crazy
I’m sure they do by now..! hhahaha! coz’ during my fibroids and hysterectomy.. i had asked and reminded Doctor Mukhajee to make sure that he took pictures of my very huge fibroids. And i’m absolutely being indulged.. because he did. I should have passed him my compact flash that way .. i can all my pictures recorded.. instead of having just copies of it.. photocopied.. although colored. You and I know.. nothing beats.. having the real picture eh.
The Healing Power Of Chinese Herbal Soup
I kid you not..! for centuries the Chinese believed that chinese herbal soup can do wonders for a person’s body.. especially after an operation or giving birth to a kid. When I had my daughter.. i was very worried.. that staying in Canada .. would not give me much choice.. of having nutritional soup to help build my body back into shape. I was very blessed.. because many blogger friends and friends from home.. and my cousins from Australia had sent me herbs.. and recipe on how to boil those soup for myself.
But what touched me most during my recent operation was a blogging friend turned into a good friend. .had made sure.. that i had all these herbal soup.. and herbal chicken spice.. to eat myself back to health. I am truly grateful to this wonderful, wonderful person.. BARB.
Crunching Of Ice Caused By Iron Deficiency
For those of you who don’t know this.. i had been crunching on ice on a daily basis for more than 2 yrs now.. and i even have a food blog .. called Ice Cube Junkie, a name given by Mr Moo because of it. It drives him nuts.. and i don’t even know how exactly it started. I craved for us.. on a daily basis.. and i could crunch ice.. for 8 hrs. . if it didn’t drive the man nuts.
Anyhow.. after i had blood transfusion.. before my operation . .and after my operation to take out my fibroids.. i haven’t touched ice cubes for the last 3 months. Yes.. it is because you have iron deficiency..and your heamogoblin is low. So if you have a crunching ice habit.. quickly get to the doctor.. and get your blood tested.. !! The urge is just gone.. just like that..!! amazing and a true miracle for Mr Moo..!! the crunching ice thing.. must be the best thing .. that had ever happen to him.. for years now.
Vitamin C Helps With Cold
If you think you are coming down with a cold or not feeling well, a few tablets of Vitamin C can help boost the immune system. I’ve tried it.. and it works everytime…!! so try it .. and see if it works for you as well. With Missy Moo in school now, you can imagine us having to take turns to take care of her.. when she catches something from school. So mums and dads out there.. my advice is to start popping Vitamin Cs regularly .. and more if you feel you are coming down with something.
Health Survey
Last week, I received a call from the Health Department of Canada. They are currently doing a survey and wants to make sure that the level of service as well as the charges were appropriate.. therefore, they had called to ask permission for my files to be opened to a third party. They will also call to have a chat about the quality of service in the hospital.
But before they even finished the conversation.. i had already stopped her short.. and told her that i would participate in the survey. Mauahahha!! the gal over the other end of the phone was shocked. But you see i’ve got so much to say.. and i definitely want to voice out my opinion.. and isn’t this a way better way to do it.
I look forward to that surveyor’s call.. and i will let you all know what happened next.
3 Months Update After Hysterectomy

Ok.. a quick update .. on my recovery. A few days from today, it would be about 3 months since my hysterectomy. These pictures are scars of today left from my laposcopic surgery 10 days after my hysterectomy. The one that didn’t want to heal properly healed after taking more than 2 months and finally the hole did close up but as you can see, it’s still red in color. There isn’t much pain there no more.. just itchiness but if i lifted my hands to wash my hands.. i can feel all of the wounds being stretched. I strongly believed that it can be still some rawness inside.

I feel lucky that besides cooking for my brat and myself.. i still haven’t done housework.. like vacuuming and mopping the floor or even washing the toilet or cleaning out the bath-tub. With the help of Mr Moo and Babysitter Moo, they did the heavy duty stuff. And my job at the store.. only involved me sitting down.. and standing up at times.. and if i didn’t wanna do anything.. i don’t have to. Being owner by association does has it little perks.

For the last few week, i haven’t been taking anymore pain killers .. except for night time or the occasion middle of the day.. or if i was planning on doing alot of walking. Yesterday, i managed to chaperon my Missy Moo’s class to an apple orchard .. and it wasn’t too bad.. because it was leisurely walking. I still feel numb on my belly but the long and huge scar doesn’t hurt no more from the hysterectomy surgery. I’m eating well.. and i feel alot more healthier and losing less hair. I really think that the fibroids had something to do with my losing of air… and for those who don’t know ..the happiest thing for the man about my hysterectomy.. and taking out of the fibroids was .. i STOPPED CRUNCHING ICE..!!
You heard right..!! i haven’t crunch an ice cube since i came out of the hospital.. and seriously.. this is something really weird.. because before the operation.. i would literally KILL anyone who stops me from crunching ice. I needed it.. and i needed it constantly. But that would be for another day and another post.
Ppl Who Make A Difference When You Are Sick

Male nurses are a rare commodity .. anywhere in the world. It is rare to see alot of male nurses in a hospital.. but one that is kind and gentle is even more rare. This nurse is just a training nurse.. but during my second surgery .. for my complication after my hysterectomy.. he was there to help me with some IVs that was causing me alot of pain. He was not only gentle but also kind and very patient with me. People like him is gonna make the world of sick people feel better. Thank you very much .. Male Nurse. I hope after your training you will stay and serve in Yarmouth and not go to the big city. Yarmouth needs nurses like you.
Wonderful Doctor..??
Was at the doctor’s a few weeks ago.. because the wound didn’t seems like healing properly. Although it wasn’t oozing .. or having some foul smell.. i thought it would be best to go see him.. since i was developing a rash..which Mr Moo thinks it was from the anti-biotics.
Anyhow.. i started on another type of anti-biotic.. because the family doctor had taken a swap sample of the wound..the very first time i saw him.. and the culture results had come back.. so he was giving me the “right” type of anti-biotic again. No sticker shock this time for the medication.. but he said something about us making “lots” of money.. so shouldn’t mind spending money on medication.. *slap forehead*.
Yes.. we do make quite abit of money.. but i want my money to go to Missy Moo’s future and education.. and her traveling around the world.. and of course our future.. and not spend .. 100s of dollars just on medication right..?? *shrug* .. but how lah.. to explain to the doctor.. when he would only see his patient.. one case at a time..?? C’est la vie… ??
Hospital Facilities
I had been going in and out of the hospital for the last 3 months, either for surgeries or follow up or just dressing to be taken care of. Unfortunately, i also noticed that the hospital does not have a special department to help those who needs drug rehabilitation. It is in my opinion that a drug rehab is a must in this town, instead of building a whole new municipality building to house 8 old farts.
Diabetics Need Antioxidants

I’ve been meaning to write this.. since my operation some 2 months ago. As i was saying the other day, being a diabetic, you are on th alert all the time about what you eat and when you eat and most importantly what you cannot eat alot. I never believed in abstinence .. i believed in moderation.
Having said that.. i also am constantly looking out for new information or new ways whereby i can improved my blood sugar. I hear the Vitamins C and E supplements may reduced memory loss in Type 2 diabetes.. the one i have currently. Yes..it’s true.. i do have memory loss. .and it’s BAD..! To help with our impaired memory losses.. it is said that daily doses of about 1000 mgof vitamin C and 800 IU of vitamin E can help improved mental function after carbohydarate rich food thus protecting you from memory loss. So if you are like me..and you feel like you can’t remember stuff.. the very next min.. try taking Vitamins C and E supplements.
Stress Reliever
For those like me who get stress up easily, what do you do..?? I watch tvb series… like Moonlight Resonance. I’m up to Moonlight Resonance Episode 29 now and if wished to get the link, head over to my entertainment blog for it. Other than these tvb series, i also go for some healthy snacks .. like those corn chips.. because i refused to eat chocolate. What about you..?? do you have a stress reliever..??
Soy & Insulin
Being a diabetic .. i’m constantly looking for more natural ways to control my blood sugar metalbolism and i hear that soy supplement may eventually lead to that. This is based on a new research done in Japan, the journal supports the benefit of soy products for folks like me who has got diabetic. Looks like i’ll have to take in more tofu.. and other supplements from Soy isoflavones. Can’t see any harm in it.. afterall, i’ve eaten loads of soy. even before I came to Canada.

Canadians Are Darn Lucky
Yes..! had i not known how much one has gotta pay for health care in Canada.. or any other places.. i wouldn’t know how lucky the Canadians are. Canadians .. whether you are a permanent resident or a citizen . .you are entitled to free medical care. Unfortunately, for my g/fs in the States.. i know they are not covered to the max. i know that the North Carolina health insurance is the answer to some of your health insurance questions and quotes. Buying health insurance in United States is not an option now . .it is complusory.
I Missed The Medical Care Back Home - Singapore
According to the National Newspaper in Singapore - The Straits Times on July 9, 2008 - Excellent Medical Care is only minutes away in Singapore.
Not just medical care.. but Excellent Medical Care..!! And you know what..?? if you want to see your gynecologist.. he or she .. would try and slot you in .. very quickly.. if you need advice.. and not have to wait a week or more. I kid you not.. because Mr Moo was in Singapore. .with me.. when i had to see my doctors on emergency case.. because i was going to Canada. He can vouched for what i just wrote. Seeing the panel of doctors from the office was 15 mins away. We usually can get to see the doctor on the same day.
My family doctor is opened every night except Sundays.. till 9.30pm. And he would even bring in a chiropractor if i needed one for a weekly session. In Canada.. you have to jump thru’ fire hoops to get to see just about any kind of doctor. In Canada, my family doctor had a poster put up, telling us that he will only diagnose one serious illness at one visit. So if you had cough, cold, fever and an asthma attack plus you have back pain.. you can only pick one.. to see him for..???
2 Months Update After My Laporoscopic Surgery

Well.. the last hole finally healed up this week.. but at the end of the day.. i still feel might painful.. on the belly. Some said.. it is to be expected.. but i just wanna update here.. to let anyone out there.. who had a hysterectomy and fibroids taken out.. that i had the same experienced of pain. If i stand up and walk.. that’s fine.. but not alot of walking either..and i can bend down to pick stuff… but of course not without pain. I still feel sharp pain every now and then ..especially late at nite.. when i am getting ready to sleep like now.
Overall, i feel that i should be doing better.. if not for having to sit and work for so many hours.. but can’t be doing nothing for this long eh. Pictures to follow soon… of the hole in my tummy.
