The Bank Stresses Me

All I wanted was to open a checking account and my passport isn’t enough it seems. So I was turned away.. and told to come back with another ID .. to prove that I am me. Is this ridiculous or what..?? Yes..! canadian banks for you .. and the government. I guessed it is to keep track of how much money is coming into your account.. so that they can tax you ..??
